Spider solitaire is one of the all time fan favorite solitaire games. Unlike many solitaire games, spider solitaire is a fun and challenging game that requires more strategy than luck. Deluxe Spider plays standard 104 card spider solitaire with either 1, 2, or 4 suits. It's simple to play, but also includes lots of options and features that are sure to please the most serious spider player. Deluxe Spider will take advantage of larger displays for clear and easy to read cards. It also includes a convenient toolbar, appearance options, numbered games, statistics tracking, records best times, game history, secondary mouse support, undo, redo, and much more.
This version includes minor bug fixes and several user interface enhancements. It also slightly decreases the card layout spacing. Some players felt that the cards were spaced a bit too far apart in earlier versions.

Excellent Spider Solitaire - Great version of Spider Solitaire for OSX. You can play either One, Two or four suits. Nothing more to say. Excellent!
Frustrating, Low End and Outdated - Poor graphics and terrible animation. The visual is flat and boring and there are no bells and whistles to make it interesting and fun. It is also slow to respond which makes the game cumbersome and long. The player’s time score will be longer than is normally expected with other Spider Solitaire games. There is no option for saving games and so you can’t shut down your computer and finish later. Once started, a game must be either finished or forfeited. The worst part is how badly it plays. The user has almost no control over the cards and you will find yourself fighting the automatic functions during the entire game. Don’t even think of trying to keep score, because the cards jump all over the place of their own accord, messing up you time and your score. When I try to make a move, the cards jump to a place i didn’t intend about 75% of the time. The options are also extremely limited. Unbelievably bad. It really, REALLY is possible to do a better job than this. There are some very good spider solitaire games on PC, on my iPhone and on my iPad - and some of the better games are free. This one seems like the games I used to play on some of the older computers from about 10 years ago or even longer. Very badly designed game with lots and lots of bugs. I might be OK with the limitations of this app if it were free, but when you pay good money, you kind of expect more than this. I keep trying to find the games I am used to and like, but I don’t think they are available on a Mac, even though they are on my Apple mobile devices. The only good feature of this game is that there are no ads, so that is something.

I’m adjusting - I was not expecting a complete makeover with the update and I hate change. Although the graphics are more artistic, sometimes a card game should look like a card game. My stats also went somewhere. But, it still pays pretty much the same and I do like that now a completed stack doesn’t automatically run—I get to choose when it goes. I will keep playing it and will get used to it.
pretty good version - I like it, though there's a few things that seem like they could be streamlined (why not integrate daily challenge directly into the game?). The biggest issue I have is that the "secondary mouse button" doesn't seem to work. My Mac has only one button (actually, it has no buttons -- it's an Apple magic mouse). I've tried every key combination I can find -- control-click, option-click, command-click, shift-click -- and nothing seems to work. The old version used to allow me to highlight valid moves, but I can't do that now. UPDATE (based on response): Yes, I have the right option set in the menu -- I just couldn't figure out how to make the secondary mouse button action happen. Turned out i needed to press two fingers on my trackpad. It's working now. I would be happy to contact you (as suggested), but I can't find any mechanisms to do that besides this review. If I clidk the "contact developer" link, it takes me to your web page where there's no way to submit feedback.
Winner - Deluxe Spider Solitaire by Glenn Seeman - After upgrading our iMac to the Catalina OS, going from a 32-bit to 64-bit system, it left me with multiple applications that needed to be upgraded. Among them was Glenn Seemann's Deluxe Solitaire suite of apps. My favorite among them is Spider Solitaire, which I played most every day. I tried to find an upgrade or an alternate to satisfy my interest. I downloiaded free solitaire games, and even purchased a couple that left me sadly disappointed. Then I searched "Glenn Seemann" in the App Store anad found that he did have a new version of my favorite solitaire game for a low one time price. I went for it, and I think it's terrific ... the playing area is a little too spread out for my taste and I would prefer it automatically moved completed suits to the finished section of the board. There are a couple of other tweaks I would suggest, but I am delighted to have my favorite solitaire game working on the new 64-bit OS. Thank you, Glenn.
NO HINTS! - I specifically checked on the dev's website, and it mentions "hints" as a feature. Not any I could find. It's a hard game, too hard without hints (and too expensive).
Great game.... - ...have played and enjoyed Spider Solitaire for years, both for the Mac and the mobile versions. and in many places...yes, including the bathroom. I like the recent update, the new graphics and the gameplay. Thanks for many hours of enjoyment.
