Description:

Do you need to grab assets out of a classic MacOS application or resource fork? If so, then this is the program for YOU. If you wondering what a "resource fork" is, then this is probably not the app you are looking for.

Simply drop an application or resource file onto rezycle and it will extract all of the resources for you and place them into a folder next to the original file. But wait, thats not all! It will not only extract the old stuff for you, but it will also convert it into fabulous modern formats! Have some old 'snd ' resources? BANG! Now you have some spiffy new AIFF files! Old icons and cursors? BANG! Transformed into lovely png files! As a special bonus, anything rezycle can't convert will be exported as binary files for you to attack with your favorite hex editor!

Rezycle currently decodes the following resource types: ICN#, icl8, icl4, ics#, ics8, ics4, icm#, icm8, icm4, ICON, SICN, cicn, icns, TEXT, STR, STR#, PICT, clut, pltt, CURS and crsr. All others are extracted as individual binary files.

If you find that rezycle doesn't convert a resource type that you need or are having issues with a conversion, please take the time to hit the support button to the right and get in touch with me via the contact form on my website. THANKS!

Great support from the developer - This is awesome. It is definitely one of the easiest tools to use, and well worth the money for the time it saved me. I needed to extract text and sounds and graphics from a very old Mac game, Spaceward Ho! and we were able to use this to save a ton of time. When extracting the French language version, we found there were errors. I contacted the developer and they immediately responded and then provided a quick fix. Thanks so much!

Does exactly what it promises - Little apps like this are the reason I wish I searched the App Store before wasting an hour looking for utilities like this online. My time is worth heck of a lot more than $5 per hour!

Fantastic if Clunky - I would pay ten times more for this app. All I needed was the pics and snds from an old kids game of mine, Catchmouse. First time I ran it, it got the pics but crashed working on some file I did not need. When it crashed again I quit every other program (Yosemite 10.10.3) then had a brainstorm. I went to my old mac and the metrowerks files. Opened the .rsrc file for the game and deleted every resource except the snd and pic file. Rezycle worked great with the two files. It convered the pics to pngs. To do that myself I’d have to save in claris, then transfer via disk. Then use GraphicConverter to convert from pic because photoshop doesn’t do pics. And the sounds are now aif. This program saved me a ton of time.

Does What I Needed - Did exactly what I needed: to extract the resources from an ol application. So it doesn’t have a flashy UI .. who cares? The app works.

Awesome Tool - I used this tool to recover my old Classic Finder Sounds. As advertised, it split the resource forks in the old files and stored the sound component as an .aiff formatted file.

Simple and Sweet - The app did exactly what I needed – extracting and converting snd files – and was super simple too! I’ve been looking for something like this for a long time and I’m sure I’ll be using it many times in the future.
