I’m a geezer with poor eyesight. I need this - I bought this primarily for the Mouse Locator function (available in the Lite version), but was more than happy to spend a couple of extra bucks for other functions that I will use less frequently in this Pro version. So my comments are limited to the Mouse Locator. You know whether you need Mouse Locator or not. If you’ve ever endured the frustration of not knowing where your mouse/trackpad pointer is on your Mac screen you need this. I only wish that I had purchased this years ago. For old Unix folk: there have been times when I, using the keyboard only, fired up XQuartz and launched xeyes just to deal with this.) But I don’t want xeyes (or a native equivalent) to always be taking up space, nor do I want to have to the triangulation that one does with xeyes. Likewise, I don’t want to make my mouse cursor permanently bigger. I don’t want it to be a distraction. I just want a hot key I can use to find my mouse cursor when I need it. myPoint Pro does exactly what I need. I do recommend that people practice with it a couple times to be able to remember the hotkey when the need comes. If I have one complaint (and this really is just a matter of taste), I find myPoint Pro too configurable. There are so many controls and options that instead of playing with them, I will just leave the default. I don’t want to be presented with a dozen different controls when I look at the preferences. Again, I am probably unusual in this matter of design. I have not looked at other apps that offer the same kind of thing, so perhaps the extreme control and configurability are a distinguishing feature. I’m satisfied with the default settings, so this “problem” isn’t an issue for me.

Mouse Halo works fine for me - I purchased this utilty because I wanted a halo around my mouse pointer and I didn’t want to take a chance on any of the utilities with reported reliability or lack of support problems. Download and installation were painless, as expected. Only Halo and Locator are enabled by default so pressing Opt-Cmd-/ turns on the default halo and pressing and releasing the Ctl key activates the default locator graphic. All of the supported functions appear to be very configurable. Creating, attaching, and configuring my own halo graphic was simple (I’m reasonbly proficient at basic Photoshop operations.) One tip: you can use a .jpg file as a custom Halo graphic, but if you want part of the graphic to be transparent, it wil lhave to be in a a .png file. I like that a menu bar icon allows access to the control program. I have not enabled or used Crosshair, Grille, Coordinates, or Heavy Shade so I can’t comment on them. All in all I’m pleased with this utility; it reliably does what I want it to, with a minimum of fuss and cognitive load.
