muvee Reveal Express
The award-winning automatic video editing software is finally here for the Mac. This version is optimized for a photo-only slideshow, using the same Artistic Intelligence cinematic engine used in muvee Reveal (but tuned for photos).
Instantly create awesome music slideshows that dance to the beat of any music track you choose. Comes with 5 different bundled Styles, each with distinctive effects, transitions and filters. All for the price of a round of lattes.
Grab up to 50 photos from your cameras, computer, or iPhoto, choose a music track from iTunes, and hit Play. Its really that easy!
The app analyzes your chosen music track for the beats and emotional index, then analyzes your photos for human faces. In moments, a professionally produced music-video-style photo movie is created, complete with Ken Burns effects, awesome color filters and professional transitions.
Automatically zooms, pans and highlights any faces in your photos and also syncs your slideshow to the beat and emotional index of the music track. Choose from three speed settings for even more control.
* We are limiting this to 50 photos because that's tested to best fit a typical song and any longer, the slideshow will get a little draggy.
* Wanna tell an epic story? Make multiple muvees with different songs and string them together! That gives you ability to use different Styles and music, adding spice and variety.
* Choose from one of 5 exciting Styles, ranging from music-video trailer type slideshows to Scrapbook-style photo books.
* Export to iPad and iPhone4/4S/5 (720P HD), iPod Touch/iPhone 3GS and earlier (480P)
* Save to your local Mac drive in various sizes for uploading to YouTube, Facebook or Vimeo.
* Share on the big screen with iDVD or directly using Airplay.
* Great for weddings, vacations, family moments, graduation, and sporting events.

Muvee For Mac = Awsome - The application is fanstastic and can support full HD quality Movies. The interface is nice and simple, easy to use. I have tested this with a various number of large photos up to 50 photos and did not have any issues (at 50 photos, rendering the movie takes a while and is pretty resource intensive -- that however is expected from this type of application even at small numbers of photos). I like the included styles and look forward to additional style packs. I did experince one issue with the application faulting when I tried to change the music and the style at the same time using music from inside itunes, but I am not downgrading my rating because: 1) This is a brand new application and is way more stable than expected for applications that are just released. 2) I am aware of Muvee's support and commitment to quality from many years of experience and feel more than confident that this bug will be fixed in no time flat. -- They have since confirmed they have a fix and are waiting Apple to approve their latest release and the update is forthcoming! Overall: 5 Stars Interface: 5 Stars - Exactly what I would expect from a native Mac application. Performance: 5 Stars - As expected from a movie rendering application. Price: 5 Stars - A steal at $9.99; You can't beat it. Features: 5 Stars - For an express version it handles large amounts of photos and multiple music files and comes with 5 style packs built in. Even provides photo hot spot focus features. Very nice. Stability: 4 Stars - As mentioned above, there was one bug, which can be worked around by changing music and style seperatly and saving in-between. Support: 5 Stars - As always Muvee support is top notch even through Facebook which is how I use it. If you are looking for a simple to use photo movie creator for a birthday, wedding, or any other occasion -- you can't go wrong. Full disclosure, I am a huge fan of Muvee and have been for a long time. I am also a IT Architect so I believe I can say with strong confidence that this is a great application! Updated: Changed the quantity of photos that I created my Movies at as it turns out there was an error on my part that I did not catch. When I created my movie with 1000 photos -- as previously stated -- I had walked away from the Mac. When the application gets to 50 photos on the import apparently it stops and shows a message telling you only 50 photos are supported. The message only shows for about 15 seconds, so I missed it and assumed I had all my photos in the test. I appologise for the egregious error on my part. This is still a FANTASTIC application & I can attest to Muvee's determination for customer satisfaction as they noticed my error and let me know. I then re-tested and confirmed what they suspected. Thanks Muvee for: 1) Not letting me give out false information. 2) Taking the time to care about your customers!
Nothing but trouble - I have used Muvee products on Windows machines and pretty much liked them so I gave this a try. It's so buggy as to not even be a beta. Every time I try to change the music it crashes and upon restart in several times allows the change. There seems to be no way to set up the program for options before allowing it to render. There is a 50 photo limit which is very annoying. The worst thing however is that making a support issue requires telling how you purchased the app but there is no option for the app store. This is even when you make the support issue through the app store. There is a blank box where you can fill in the place or method of purchase but it will not allow any entries. I have tried this on several Macs with the same results. They are running 10.7.2.

Not bad for the money - Pros and cons: It's simple to use, the face detection feature is genius and easy to move, you can export to high quality HD. Cons: 50 picture limit is ridiculous, no "undo" button if you make a mistake, it did some quirky things like make all the photos black and white once and flipped a few pictures randomly (both mistakes were fixed by simply restarting), not able to purchase other themes. I did 3 separate videos, then brought them into Adobe Premiere and made one long one. But I'm a professional editor and have access and skill to do that. Again, the 50 picture limit is what really knocked the rating down for me, but overall I'm happy with the ease of use for the price
Fun - I am glad to see that Muvee is breaking into Apple. I love this when I had windows. I do photography, and love the quick 50 pick up load. After editing photos, I can create a quick slideshow for my clients or quick galleries to show work, events, etc on Facebook or as a portfolio. I am looking forward to being able to purchase more creative options. For now, this works for quick use and time saving use.
Very disappointing - Given Muvee's background and the fact that in their very beginning I was an early adopter and evangelizer, I was excited to see that they finally let the Mac in but really disappointed to find that this has nothing to do with movies at all. It's just another trick slide show and a pretty lame one at that Now I read that it's limited to 50 stills which would make it close to useless. I expected more from Muvee and should have read the fine print.
Also disappointed with limit of 50 images - I too have used Muvee products on my Windows, very disappointed that for MAC there is a 50 image limit.
What's the beef? - I've used this for a couple jobs now. Yes, it's like a slide show, not sure what others expected. I've made two shows on for my nonprofit web site and totally happy with both. Time to create was minimal. Sure the options are minimal, what did you expect for the price? I'm happy, totally. If you visit mountain fund you can see two items I made in about 10 minutes - max - time each. It's exactly what I needed, not more, not less.
