Mac|Life: "****GREAT - Using iSlimPhoto is a single click affair. For showing off photos on the go, iSlimPhoto can put your megapixels on a diet." - 20 Killer Mac Apps Under $20, Mac|Life, June 2011

The Mac® App for shrinking your iPhoto® library by 60-90% while significantly improving iPhoto® performance.

Slim your iPhoto® library to take it with you on your MacBook®, without any visible loss. Keep the BIG library at home on your iMac®, an external drive or a Time Capsule®.

Or, if you will not need all those megapixels anymore, after using the app you can just delete your BIG library and replace it with the slim one to recover 60-90% of your disk space and improve performance significantly, especially on slow systems/big libraries.

iSlimPhoto is a handy Mac® utility that creates a slim version of your BIG iPhoto® library by resizing pictures from their multi-megapixel resolution down to the actual resolution of your Mac's display.

• No need for all those megapixels
Take with you only so many pixels as your MacBook® may display.

• Economies of space: 60-90%
Save a lot of GBs of HDD/SSD space used by the iPhoto® library.

• Perfect images, just slim library
The "Perfect" quality setting makes the slimmed photos indistinguishable on your MacBook® display.

• Adjustable compression
You can select a lower quality level to save even more space (losing some image detail).

• Fast but not resource hog
iSlimPhoto makes use of all the computing power available, without interfering with your work.

• Update the slim library
After the first pass, use iSlimPhoto again to quickly sync new photos and changes from the BIG library to the slim one.

• Convert RAW files to jpeg and slims them down by 80-95%
A lot of disk space is wasted by RAW files on laptops - just keep the original RAW at home and take with you a perfect jpeg copy.

Snow Leopard® and Lion® compatible, and compatible with all iPhoto versions®.

Wonderful app, Clears a ton of space on my macbook - This is exactly what I needed, I have a 130gb library (my macbook only has 3 gb of space left) and iSlim is just a perfect app for saving tons of space on my macbook. For only $5, IT IS A MUST for all macbooks and photographers with DSLR cameras that shoot high quality pictures and have no space on the mac.

Support seems to be lacking - I purchased islimphoto because the size of our photo libraries was becoming way too big. One library was 189 GB with 63,000+ photos. I ran the program, taking note of the workaround posted that caused crashing. Things seem to be going well, but there were concerns about discrepancies between the slimmed library and the original library. On the library referred to above, the program took about 36 hours to do the job and then it crashed on step 4. I’ve contacted the developer three times and have never gotten a response, other than the automated response saying they got my message. I like the idea of the program, but if the support is not there for a new user then it probably wouldn’t be there for an older user and the value of the program is diminished greatly, in my opinion. And the only way you can reach them is through their contact email page on their website. But who knows if anyone is really getting that mail. The App store also had the listing that the program was half price for a Thanksgiving sale. But, I paid the full price without any explanation as to why. So, if you can live with a program that would seem to promise support but when support is needed all you hear is “ “, then go for it. Who knows, you may be one of the lucky ones who won’t need support. . .but I wouldn’t want to count on that. I think the name of the developer, “Idealistic Future” is fitting for this review. I guess I have too unrealistic a view of what a developer should be.
