Description:

RF Explorer is an affordable Handheld Spectrum Analyzer designed from scratch to be a sort of Swiss Army Knife for the specific needs of ISM band digital communication. Depending on the model and (optional) expansion board you'll be able to cover all ISM bands.

The iRF Explorer application connects to the device over the USB port using a normal USB to mini-USB cable.

You are then able to extract spectrums, spectrograms and capture screenshots. Furthermore simple maxima, averages and standard deviations can be calculated on the fly.

These can be exported (simple copy/paste) as a PNG, PDF for inclusion in reports; as text or Latex for use in a Laboratory Information system or as CSV files. In the latter case - a paste in Numbers/Excel will allow you to further manipulate the numbers.

For those who do not yet have an an RF-Explorer - there is a demo which uses your microphone as the source for a spectrum.

it works - So when I tried installing the drivers nothing happened. I tried again several days later and it went through the install menu, restarted. I plugged the rf explorer in and it works! So I can verify it 100% works on mavricks.

Avoid - at all cost - Immature piece of software, I can't believe Apple let this slip through the cracks. 50% of the time it freezes upon execution. The other 50% of the time, the process dies 100% of the time when you go into the preferences. Process zombies after that, and cannot be killed unless you restart your system.

This App works well! - Using Macbook Pro (mid 2009) running Os X 10.7.3 and a brand new RF Explorer (Model - WSUB1GM) firmware version 1.08 22-dic-11.Important - Install proper USB Driver from Silicon Labs and your RF Explorer will talk to your Mac perfectly. Also, you should launch app first, then connect your RF Explorer via mini USB. After connecting it, go to preferences pane and select Serial Devices, choose SLAB_USBtoUART. This will connect your RF Explorer. There are still some minor bugs, but for a free app with a low cost spectrum analyzer this is amazing! I recommend it. Every Production Sound Mixer (TV or Film) should own one.

Unfortunately True Reviews - Looks like to me, on the first run of this product, it DID freeze and require force quit to get rid of, as was mentioned in the other reviews. Looks like a good start to a program that will be of use, but needs some polish for the Mountain Lion Operating system. Also I noticed that this as many other wifi discovery tools, does NOT SUPPORT external wifi cards. Yes, I know it's easy to assume that all people running this have a built in wifi card, and they do. BUT assuming that limits your product to only that. external cards allow antenna to be connected and are very necessary for pro use. As a programmer it should be pretty easy to build a little option to switch between installed hardware. I hope to see this change soon, and I can rate better on a future version.
