I can’t imagine college without it! - While the desktop version isn’t yet as full-featured as the mobile versions of this app, it’s a very welcome companion. And the developer is working hard to add all of the iOS features to the desktop version. Speaking of which, the developer is very accessible and responsive. With the companion iOS apps on my iPhone and iPad, iHomework 2 is one of the two most important apps in my college-student toolbox. If only I’d had something like this the first time I tried college (long before the advent of the PC, much less smart phones and tablets). I’m a deer-in-the-headlights type of procrastinator; the more pressure and stress I feel, the more I put things off — not a good character flaw if one wants to be a successful student. As an “adult” student with a crazy life of family and work obligations, I’d never have considered full-time enrollment (seven classes) without the organizational aid of iHomework. Major advantages: - I don’t have to keep paper copies of all 7 syllabi to keep track of what is due when; not only can I plan out each assignment and exam but I can attach the syllabus files for reference if I need them. - No guessing as to what is due now and what I should work on first — this feature is worth it’s weight alone - No need to create a separate calendar for homework assignments and no need to clutter my work or personal calendars with homework assignments - The ability to set up planned start dates is tremendous; reading assignments start a few days before class dates but big projects or papers are started weeks earlier The task lists aren’t all that handy for me yet but have a ton of potential once start dates can be assigned to each task. For now, the task list is used if I have any small steps to remember but mostly I break out tasks as separate assignments so I can assign starts dates and due dates to keep myself on track. The Grades function didn’t seem very interesting at first but now it’s a fun way to stay motivated.

This would be 5 stars with just a couple bug fixes - I love using this app to keep my assignments and exams in line. It’s a simple, free, and functional planner. However in the most recent update the “planner” tab has some bugs (highlighting blue randomly and lagging when dragging assignments around). Before the bug fix this was no problem. However I would love for the app to have a better of sub-task functionality. You are able to create a main assignment (Like a group project per se) and you can add “tasks” inside of that assignment, (like “create powerpoint”, “submit for peer editing”) but I would love to be able to plan and schedule those “sub tasks” on the planner.
