When you use the "Create Archive" function on your Mac (to create a zip file), hidden files are inserted into the zip archive. While you cannot see these files on your mac, PC users will be able to see files and folders that would be hidden on the Mac: The ".DS_Store" file and "__MACOSX" folder.

Not only can these files and folders confuse your end-user - but they can also confound downstream processing on PC where the end-user has automated extraction for zip files, resulting in a failed extraction of the zip file. For example, if the entity to whom you are sending the zip file uses automated processing to unzip the file, their software may be unable to process zip archives created on your mac computer. The solution is our Zip Mac Files for the PC utility... a simple, lightweight drag and drop application that keeps Mac and PC users talking.

This application will create zip files that you can send to PC users with no problems. Of course, the zip files can also be read on your mac. The program has two setting - the native state which removes the ".DS_Store" file and "__MACOSX" folder, and a checkbox enabled setting to strip ALL hidden files from the zip archive.

Release Notes:

* Fixed issue where the option to password protect zip files may not have been displayed on all versions of Mac OSX.

Does what it says, fast, clean. - App does what it says it does, clean and fast. If what you want to send to someone is in a folder or has subfolders, those are all correctly preserved, just the hidden files are removed. I use this professionally and send files to PC users who may have little knowledge of computers, this makes a clean file that they can easily open.

This app is a piece of junk - This works no better than the piece of crap which came with my Mac. I’ve tried the tricks mentioned in the positive reviews, but there is virtually no file compression when using this program. How do I get my money back??????

Does a dirty job well. - This zips mac folders and removes all the mac junk. I'm using this to back up all my stuff to my PC. I rated this 5 stars, but my only gripe is that it acts likes it's crashed on large folders. It takes some time, but it does finish even when OS X says it's (Not Responding) in red the whole time. I hope this gets fixed, but other than that it's a great zip app. It zips my largest folders where Keka has an error code 2.
