The venerable U.S. weather app Wx, named a Mac Gem by Macworld magazine, has been reinvented! Wx displays current conditions, forecasts, warnings, and radar for U.S. locations using high fidelity XML data from the U.S. National Weather Service. The app is designed for two specific types of customers: serious weather watchers who want detailed information and facts with no fuss, and casual users who want a fast, clean, and functional weather app.
Wx lets you set up locations on an embedded map, guiding you to choose nearby NWS observation sites (over 1700 available in the U.S. and its territories), nearby NEXRAD radar sites, and nearby city- and county-based alert zones. The app sets up a 7-day summary "point" forecast customized for the specific latitude and longitude of the location, and a 7-day “pro” forecast that graphs temperature (actual and apparent), dew point, relative humidity, cloud cover, wind speed, wind direction, gust speed, 12-hour probability of precipitation, 6-hour liquid precipitation amount, and 6-hour snow amount. Wx’s pro forecast is also latitude/longitude based, and is about as good as it gets if you need to plan work, sports, and outdoor activities based on upcoming weather. With their high spatial resolution, the point and pro forecasts are especially useful in coastal and mountainous regions where typical zone forecasts can be inaccurate. These forecasts are backed up by a regional text forecast bulletin for additional information.
Wx also lets you bookmark and setup weather maps for quick reference. Choose from over 40 default NWS maps and images, or provide the URL for any map of your choice and load it right in the app! If you have preferred weather providers or use a private weather service, you can load your favorite maps and images right in Wx and keep them handy. Other features of Wx include a display of weather conditions in the dock icon, seven day sun and moon phase information, and a high performance radar display with seven types of radar on a zoomable live map.
Wx is crafted with attention to detail by an award-winning professional software developer with over 25 years of experience, 15 years focused on developing software for Mac OS X and 9 years writing apps for iOS devices. Wx has been reinvented from the ground up. Under the hood, Wx has all new download and processing engines, and is faster than ever. It's more reliable than ever too, offering multiple levels of redundancy to handle severe weather events that can strain NWS servers.
Wx is also available for iPhone and iPad. For more info, see hrtapps.com or look in the iTunes App Store.
Please note that app reviews are only for other customers to read; developers are not able to respond to or interact with reviewers in that format. Refreshed and modernized user interface that can resize to show more content and go fullscreen. Zoomable radar over a live map view. Many tweaks and improvements throughout the app. Support for the upcoming NWS NDFD high resolution forecast service.

More info and nothing else... - I have been using Wx for years and wrote a review of 6.1, It’s been a while since then and I am pleased to see the update. Everything I said before is still true… “Have you noticed how many weather apps forcus on animation and flashy presentation of temp and rain forecasts? And not much else! This app is just the opposite. No glitzy animation, no oceans or clouds in the background, just the weather forecast and more maps than you'll find most anywhere else. For true weather junkies, this is the app you'll return to again and again when what you want is the weather, all the weather, nothing but the weather.” I travel for business and have my destinations all bookmarked. It’s the simplest, fastest, easiest to use app and it’s been on my desktop for many years. I’m sure it will be there for years to come.
Simply Useless - This is an antequated app that is worth nothing. I bought it, but I use the free Weather.com. What a waste of money.

Outstanding WX app - Wx has been my default weather app for many years. I have it on my iMac, iPhone and iPad! As a retired pilot, I have a special interest in weather apps and have been disappointed with most of them. Wx is the best one, is easy to use and can be personalized for desired locations and NWS maps. Craig is always very responsive to any questions or issues! Most highly recommended!
Best Mac Weather App, Data is up to date - Tried several apps, but always go back to this one, Others may be fancier or more colorful, but none get the job doen like this one. Nice clean interface gives you the info you need and important weather statements are all here. Love the upgraded look and fell of the new version. Support is get and the only one time I asked about something I had a reply within minutes, you can’t beat that. I’d give htis app more stars if I could.
Long time user first timer reviewer - I’ve been using this app for several years. I travel about 150 days a year, all over the US, this is great for plugging in cities I’ll be in next week so I know how to pack. Simple, straightforward and easy to use, nothing but praise here. Well worth the small investment.
Best mac weather app - Been using Wx for years on my mac. Great app, give me all the essential info I want for weather at locations of interest. I use a lot of weather resources on the web as well, but really handy to be able to pop up Wx with my favorite locations set up for quick checks. Love the improved radar images on the new version!
Great weather app. - I have been using WX for a few years now and it is my go to weather app. I like that I can gather forcasts for the locations I travel most in one place, and I can also be notified of weather alerts in these areas from one simple to use application.
