WeatherSnoop is Great. - I recently have used the old version of this app and now have the new version. The old version runs excellently and was a very versatile weather software. The new version(3.0) adds new features and functions which will greatly increase the desirability of this program. As for any negative reviews of this software, everyone must understand something. Software as intricate as this that has to function under Apple’s stringent guidelines can sometimes initially have some kinks to iron out. I am not a programer, and only have a basic knowledge of computer programing from many years ago. But I understand the immense number of variables that come into play when assembling even a simple program. GOOD software can take a few spins to get it just right. Trust me, the developers of this software are very open to input and construcitive critisism. They have support email and forums that are very easy to utilize. The few bumps in the road that I encountered with their older software were very expediously ironed out and fixed. I have full confidence that any current wrinkles in 3.0 will be ironed out soon. I use my software directly from a weather station. Weather snoop 2 always worked great from the program OR from the weather websites as a source. I know 3.0 will soon do the same, plus much more. 11/17/2013 Update: The program is now working great. The developer has quickly ironed out any wrinkles related to Mavericks. I highly recommend this program, it is leaps and bounds more attractive than softwares that come with or from weather station manufacturers. (More affordable too I might add). The developers have taken input from many clients on features to add and have kind of made this an end-user crafted design….its what we think looks good, not just what THEY think looks/works good.
If you don’t have a station don’t buy - It connects to Weatherunderground stations if you have the station ID but its very limited. Its also glitchey and hangs up. I bought this thinking that I could point it to Weather Underground and get some comprehensive infomration. The guages don’t work at all when you point at another station over the network and very few other functions work. At this point this is a HUGE waste of my money and I feel almost deceived for buying it. Buyer beware!!!! I really wish I had not wasted the money. Perhaps when I eventually get a weather station it will be useful.
