Vision HD was born out of a personal need. Having a webcam that was capable of producing widescreen, high definition video and not being able to record it proved to be a head scratcher...
Vision HD will allow you record in the native aspect of your Quicktime compatible webcam or video camera. You can always record in standard (4:3) aspect ratio. If your webcam supports widescreen (16:9) you will be able to record in native 16:9 aspect.
Vision HD gives you the choice of formats to record your video to. You can choose from:
Video - h.264
Audio - AAC
Both formats are fully supported by iMovie and the rest of the Apple video editing family of products.
Vision HD aims to be simple in design to allow for any user to easily record video from their webcam in formats that will allow you as a user to easily import your video into iMovie or your favorite Apple video editing product.
Vision HD has been tested with the following models of UVC, Mac OS X 10.7 compatible webcams:
- Apple iSight
- Logitech Vision HD Pro For Mac
- Logitech Webcam Pro 9000
- Various other webcams
Many UVC compatible webcams do not support HD resolutions. Please check your manufacturers website for the specifications of your particular webcam.

THANK YOU - iMovie does not support my webcam and external mic setup. This app solved my problem. I'm now able to record video from my webcam, choose an alternate audio import (I use an M-Audio MobilePre with an external studio mic), and I get video files I can easily import into iMovie for editing. This is the only reasonably priced solution I've found yet that WORKS exactly as described and doesn't try to add all sorts of bells and whistles like captioning, editing, etc--iMovie does that just fine already. Thank you!
Does not work - The software does not capture from HD cameras. I have a rocketfish 1080p webcam that FaceTime uses just fine, but comes up comepletely distorted and dark on this piece fo software. It only supports up to 720p cameras which would be fine if it didn't distort and leave weird borders all over the place. Video recording was at mose 4fps. This is a 3 month old MBP 17" so it's not the computer. If I could get my money back I would. Please don't buy this unless you'd like to be in my shoes.

Do not buy this app - Video is washed out and never saves. Give me a refund!!!!!!!!!!! I have bought hundreds of apps and this is the first one I have asked my money back.
no thanks - this is exactly what I needed…….problem is it doesn't work well - the aspect ratio changes when the files are imported to iMovie rendering it useless to me…..please update it...
BAD!!!! STAY AWAY!!! - This app does not work with CamTwist!!! Stay away!!! Don't waste your money!!!!
Works perfectly for me - I needed something that would effectively do HD recordings from my Logitech C920 onto my Macbook Pro. I've been using this app for a few days now and so far, it hasn't let me down. I'm surprised to see such a low rating for an app that, for me anyway, has worked perfectly.
Outputs in incorrect Aspect Ratio - This app would be awesome, if it didn't output video incorrectly. No matter what I tried, settings wise, the video always exported out at a forced 4:3 ratio instead of the native 16:9 as advertised. Until this is fixed, this app won't be very useful.
