Amazing Utility - I came from a Windows-based background with respect to Usenet download utilities. I tried several Windows versions and bought a couple. I was always concerned that I would not find a comparable utility on the Mac. I did a search on the Internet and found Unison, read the reviews and gave it a try (they have a freee trial on their web site). I was immediately impressed with the utility's abilities with respect to downloading and managing files. I bought the full version through the App store and am VERY pleased that I did. I use third party NZB indexing services (NZB Matrix and NZB Club) and use Unison to grab the files. It's a great utility in that once it downloads the files, it does a CRC check and grabs any PAR2 files as needed. It will also extract the files from the archives. I use MacPAr (also on the App store) to repair corrupt files and "The Unarchiver" (also on the Mac App store) as an archive utility. Together these three utilities make my experiences on Usenet amazing. Itr's a very well designed utility in true Mac style. I highly reccomend this utility.

Still hanging on transfers in Mountain Lion - I've been a huge fan of Panic's Unison for many years, but since the Mountain Lion upgrade, I've been seeing issues on multiple macs with stalled downloads or crashing machines. Apparently, I'm not the only one, but Panic can't duplicate the issue. Checking for other news readers...

Please FIX the pausing problem! - On Panic’s website, it indicated that the current version, 2.1.10 “really” fixes the random pausing problem. It does NOT. C’mon guys — this is a $30 application. This is an on-going problem. As a matter of fact, Panic indicated the problem is fixed on the current description on the MAS. Can you guys just please fix this issue once and for all?

Still not updating - Bought this on the promise that the stalled downloads problem (experienced with the demo) had really been fixed. As of this point (ver. 2.1.10), it hasn’t. And that’s just the worst of the erratic features, of which my second-least-favorite is that deleted and/or downloaded items keep popping back up into the header lists. Needs work. A lot of work. You’d be well advised to hold on to your money until you see a whole lot of new reviews confirming the problems have been fixed once and for all.

Geezer Reader - App seemingly has all necessary features to compete against any other news reader… but it has slow downloads… it D/Ls on avg <100 KB/sec… my conn is >5 MB/sec… why the speed downgrade?

Outstanding - This is actually one of the best overall newsreaders I have ever used! I have used MOST of them in Windows and Linux and I was pleasantly surprised when I found this gem when I bought a MacBook pro and moved my loyalties to OS X. For text groups it really does not stand out as much as it does for graphics or binary groups. Can't say that as of yet I have done much with using filters, but for my needs and what I do in newsgroups, this works better for me than any other program I have ever used.

The best usenet client for Mac - The app is good but it does have bugs that still haven’t been addressed. I find myself deleting certain transfers and the next time I start Unision, there they are again! Fix the little bugs please!
