Translate helps you decipher the indecipherable. Translate text between 55 languages, from Afrikaans to Yiddish. You can even translate into multiple languages simultaneously. And getting text into Translate couldn't be easier—simply select some text almost anywhere on your Mac, right-click, and choose Services → Translate. The app will figure out the original language on its own!

Most of the world doesn't speak your language. Read and write theirs instead with Translate.

Note: Translate requires an Internet connection to retrieve translations.

Release Notes:

This version of Translate switches to Google Language Tools version 2, which should help with the Quota Exceeded errors. I'm still tweaking the settings on the new API, so please contact me if you get a Quota Exceeded error after installing this update.

This version also improves compatibility with OS X Lion and adopts Lion's higher-security App Sandbox feature.

If you've experienced problems with Translate in the last few weeks, I apologize—you should have a much better time with Translate 1.3. If you have any further difficulties, please contact me by visiting Translate Support.

Works great! - Simple and accurate! I thank the developer for including simple text fields which makes it easy to copy the translated text. Note: This is very usable with Voiceover on the Mac!

Not as advertised - The requirements state Mac OS X 10.6.6 or later. The description omits that Internet access is also required, which isn't a trivial matter. I had expected a standalone application, but instead I just got a fancy interface to web services. This is nothing more than a simple program that submits translation requests to Google Translate Services - without their permisssion!

Version 1.3

Buy - Previously, I had written the below harsh review. Now I want to update it and state that the app is good. It works well and is worth the money. Why my change of mind? The developer got back to me with a fix that works and was easy to implement. I tried it and the app now does what it is supposed to do, translate. I therefore encourage purchase of the app, as it does what is claimed and as support is good. — Early review (and now out of date): Do not buy this app if you are using 10.9.1. I have not tested it on earlier (or later) releases of OS X. But when I tried using it on 10.9.1, it crashed upon loading. A restart, fresh install did not help: crashed. Do not buy this. The vendor has, moreover, not refunded me my money nor even returned my note. Do not buy this app.

Was a good product. - The problem of exceeding quota errors have gone away. But now 1.3 REQUIRES 64 bit processors only? Now unusable in computer which software is required.
