Timing tracks your time so you don't have to.
Have you ever spent all day in front of your Mac, just to wonder where the heck all that time went?

You could use a time tracker.
But to be honest, time tracking sucks.
You have to start and stop timers and enter what you did.
And if you forget that, you are back to square one.

Not so with Timing. Instead of making you do all the work, Timing automatically tracks how you spend your time. It logs which apps you use, which websites you visit, and which documents you edit. And if you are a freelancer, you can export that data to create invoices.

After tracking, you can drag and drop activities into projects. Some general categories like "Web Browsing", "Office" and "Games" have already been prepared for you, but you can customize them any way you like.

Easily review what you've done this week with just one click. Sophisticated graphs show you how you spent your time each day and which projects (or websites *cough* Facebook *cough*) consumed most of your time. And if you need the raw data to create invoices, Timing can export it as CSV or JSON for further processing!

These are just a few of the applications for which Timing can track the document path or visited website:

- Safari
- Chrome & Chromium
- Mail
- Preview

- iWork
- MS Office
- OpenOffice & LibreOffice
- Scrivener
- Evernote

- Photoshop
- Acorn

- Finder
- Parallels Desktop (app name and window title of Windows apps in Coherence mode are tracked)

- Xcode
- Coda
- TextWrangler & BBEdit
- TextMate
- Terminal

- QuickTime Player
- VLC Player

Check the list at http://timingapp.com/faq.php#compatibility for a more extensive list. Even if the document path isn't available for some other apps, Timing will automatically fall back to the window title!

Tracking is automatically suspended after a configurable time of inactivity. It will resume as soon as you return to the computer.

Download Timing today and never worry about forgetting to log time again!

"This App is a Life Saver"

"Finally a time tracking app that does not make me tell it when I am going to start working on something. It allows me to sort it all out later. I am a new user, but already I can tell this is so different from all the other ones I have tried. Even though it does not track every app I use, it still records them in a way that I can Identify them and get my time int the correct job.
- I've been working so hard lately - nice to know now I can prove it.
Worth every penny! Thank You!"

"The Best Timing App Ever Made! I never liked having to remember to start the timer or add up all the time I have spent on a project. This app automatically times everything.
- Worth the price.
- You can color code your activities (programs)
- You can hide activities you don’t wan’t tracked
- Custom charting
- Private Mode available
- Create Custom Activities (Show certain program activities within)
Overall, it’s an amazing timing utility and every business or freelancer who needs to time their activity this is a must!"

This App is a Life Saver - I am a freelance web and graphic designer. I spend the day hopping back and forth between projects and my projects are scattered throughout several different files, folders and applications. I’m often under-charging clients because I don’t want to charge them for more time than I’ve actually spent on a project, and I’m only going on my own estimates. I’ve never been able to use apps with a start and stop timer, and I’ve had minimal happiness with other timing apps…. Enter Timing…. Wow! I can’t get over much time this saves me. I don’t have to set anything up before I begin working on a project. I can FINISH a project and take less than 1 minute (after it’s completed) to drag all the specified folder and files and websites into the Timing project and Wham! I have an accurate total number of hours spent actively working on the project. I can also set up the Timing project before I begin and track my time really easily as I go along. Other apps required me to add time from different apps accross several different days. With Timing, It’s as simple as clicking my project, setting a date range and viewing my total time! I can also select a project and date range and see how much time I spent each day or each week. Suffice it to say that this will be my favorite app for quite some time! I look forward to some updates and feature additions that will make it an even more excellent app. There is nothing that compares to Timing as far as I’ve found.

Doesn't track properly. - Time tracking software all seem to have their own individual drawbacks. I'm still searching for one that has everything : easy, reliable, intuitive, and not a PITA to read. I've been trying this one out for a few days now and found that it doesn't track very well. I've been searching for a decent time tracker, and I've tried several out already. I usually have to keep two going at the same time as a failsafe. I'm glad I have been. I just worked for over an hour, and Timing says I've worked for 2 seconds. I had the same problem yesterday with file. I know it's something it can track because it's Word, and it's tracked other Word files just fine. It's the least reliable one I've used so far. Pretty. But unreliable. I need reliable more than pretty. Looks like I'll be sticking to the other two I have and uninstalling this one.

Exactly what I need to time and track reoccuring daily tasks - First let’s state the obvious it is a larger than expected price tag HOWEVER! This is the only app I found that does exactly what I need to capture the time I spend on reoccuring business as usual daily tasks. I don’t necessarily believe it will be able to capture the exact reason for a special cause such as an increase in time spent on one project over another. I do expect that if I or my team make a meaningful impact on the time it takes to complete a daily routine task then this tool will accurately capture that change. As well I expect that if we eliminate certain tasks then certainly the app will show the overall bottom line impact on information processing or spreadsheet maintenance. Or if I start investing more time in one tool over another then this will provide the evidence rather than just the output files. Great app, very user friendly. I really wish my organization offered something exactly like this for every employee ;)

Easy to use, responsive developer, great results. - I’ve been using Timing for a couple years now, to track my billable hours as a consultant. It does a stellar job of giving me a granular tracking of everything I do, either internally or for billing purposes. It’s also great that it can exclude nonwork activities taken right in the middle of work activities and allocate them properly. Update Aug 2017: The new version is an amazing upgrade. The developer has completely rebuilt the software, making it super useful for me, a consultant. It’s not a 99 cent software, but I’m not a 99 cent consultant either! Well worth every bit of the cost - saves me a huge amount of time and frustration, allows me to bill for what I do. Pays for itself. Wonderful!
