Take a walk inside The Devil's Dating Service!
The Devil's Dating Service is a 3-D interactive music video by Dubious Ranger, featuring Bhi Bhiman on vocals. Dropped inside of our album and personified as a dancing tree, the "player" is challenged to find eight musical tracks spread across the terrain. Each song has its own color palette, characters, and oddities to explore; keep an eye out for secret areas and giant squirrels.
The game is a metaphor for online dating: it requires the player to explore unknown territory relying mostly on instinct, with the tacit assumption that the effort will be worth it. Like the people one meets on the internet, the game's environments range from calm and happy to intense and bizarre. The more you explore, the more you'll find.

Gabe Turow and Alexander Eccles make up the music/programming duo Dubious Ranger.
The art, design, and programming for this application was done by Gabe. Alex co-directed the game, and wrote the lyrics and melodies for the songs. The instruments were played by Gabe, with the exception of the melodica and acoustic guitar, which were played by Alex. Bhi Bhiman sang lead vocals, and Alex sang most of the background vocals, with help from Dylan Haas and Brenden Ahern.
The music and sound effects were recorded in New York, NY and Ross, CA. Editing occurred cross-country, sometimes in realtime, using Logic and Dropbox. The album was mastered in San Mateo, CA. We used Cinema 4D and Zbrush for 3D animation and modeling; Unity for programming the game; Photoshop for texturing and coloring.
Bug Fixes. More reverb on the squirrels.

Blind accessibility - As of now on the mac desktop, this game is working alright with voiceover turned off, its interesting but I wish they had added a bit more audio to the game so it wouldn’t be so blah in places. But the music is good and the game so far is worth a try, its hard and I wouldn’t pay for it but for a free its okay.
Good game, GREAT prog - Most fresh and original music I’ve heard in years. Strange, inviting, and always interesting.
