This is a messenger app based on the MTProto protocol.

Telegram is a messaging app with a focus on speed. It’s fast, simple and free.

With Telegram, you can create group chats with up to 5000 people so you can stay connected with everyone at once. Plus, you can share videos up to 1.5GB, send multiple photos from the web, and forward any media you receive in an instant. All your messages are in the cloud, so you can easily access them from any of your devices.

We built Telegram to make messaging safe again so you can take back your right to privacy.

Why Switch to Telegram?

FAST: Telegram is the fastest messaging app on the market because it uses a decentralized infrastructure with data centers positioned around the globe to connect people to the closest possible server.

CLOUD STORAGE: Never lose your data again! Telegram offers free unlimited cloud storage for all your Telegram messages and media that you can securely access from multiple devices.

GROUP CHAT & SHARING: With Telegram, you can form large group chats (up to 5000 members), quickly share gigabyte size videos, and send all the photos you want to friends.

RELIABLE: Built to deliver your messages in the minimum bytes possible, Telegram is the most reliable messaging system ever made. It even works on the weakest mobile connections!

100% FREE & NO ADS: Telegram is free and will always be free. We do not plan to sell ads or introduce subscription fees.

PRIVACY: We take your privacy very seriously and will never give third parties access to your data!

Release Notes:

- Delete messages for everyone. When you delete your messages in groups and one-on-one chats, you can now choose to delete them for everyone in the chat, not just yourself. This works only for recently sent messages (same as editing).
- links. Use the short and personal instead of to link to any Telegram profile, channel or public group.
- 'Report spam' button added to Secret chats.

A messaging app that promises privacy - Finally, privacy (or at least strong promises of it). You just know when you send a text through WhatsApp (expecially after the FaceBook buyout) that someone unauthorized is reading it and the information is being sold illegally to advertisers (that’s how you get spam by the way). Telegram deserves 5 stars on this merit alone. Other great things include a no-nonsense Apple-esque minimalistic, actually good and easy-to-understand design, great file sharing and secret chat that doesn’t even sync to your other devices running Telegram. I’d like more features like being able to leave small voice chats (Push-to-talk), blacklisting contacts, a folder that organises all media shared between contacts in a conversation, and notofication alert choice or options, but I’m sure these will be added in time. Concerned for your privacy? Leave WhatsApp and its brethren and start using Telegram. Share with your friends and help it get the recognition it deserves.

Crashes at random - This app randomly quits itself. Other than that, really nice app, but the random crashing makes it far less useful.

Timestamps are a problem - If timestamps are a concern for you, be aware that after 1 day, you will be unable to determine the time at which the message was sent. This differs from their phone version, and it’s very unfortuntae.
