Necessary, Simple, Easy to use - Macs natively support .zip files, but for many other filetypes, you have to find ways to extract them on your own. This app makes it easy to do for a variety of files - and in the end, it allows you to access everything without unnecessary troubles and compatability issues. In short, it's an easy to use Mac essential - especially if you work with other people who use Windows or Linux, or if you moved from another operating system to mac.

Deceptively Priced = isn - Though this app is listed as a "FREE" app, it is actually shareware. After a while it will ask you to register. To register, you have to go to their website and give them $29.99. Why can't SmithMicro put the $29.99 tag on the app itself and save us the extra work? I'd be a lot happier if they were simply honest and hit you for it up front instead of doing Shareware. Shareware is so 90's. Works fine otherwise.

Works Fine for Me - I honestly don't know what the whingeing is about, it works fine, no registration prompts, nothing (I might've uncheck a small box on the popup window, but I forget). Extremely simple design and easy to use, and it does what it says it will, expand files. I've been using it for a number of years and haven't felt that I'm missing out on anything. I would recomend this app to anyone who just wants to unzip those stray far files that float around, or any of the other weird formats that aren't supported by Archive Utility.

Downgrade - It has poor support for RAR files. In my experience any RAR file approaching 900mb will break. Support for Applescript is definitely a downgrade, commands that worked before no longer works. I hope they will fix this soon.

its a great app - I read all the buzz about Stuffit not detecting .rar files and stuff … I almost didnt download that app cuz of all those reviews … still I decided to give it a shot since a friend reccommended this app highly. I got to say … for me this app works perfectly. I am using Mountain Lion and I have no complaints at all about this app!! Good Job Stuffit developer team!

Great software! Simple... - Great software! I've been using it for a while, and it works perfectly. There's a user who complaint about the RAR support. I got this problem, but it was just not selected on the preferences of Stuffit - it's simple to fix.
