Worked Great! - I was wary after reading the 2 negative reviews but I thought I would give it a try. This worked fine to extract the nearly 1gb rar file I downloaded from the internet. It expanded the archive quickly and I didn't experience any of the issues of the other commenters.
Didn't work - I downloaded this app to open files with a .rar suffix. I have an iMac running OS X 10.8.5. I dragged and dropped the .rar file onto the application tile on my desktop, and followed the prompts to select the target location. The expanded files appeared at that location, but in grey, so they were inaccessible. I then could not close the Stuffit windows and the application did not respond to "Quit," so I had to "Force Quit" the application. An irritating waste of time.

Install problem - Installed the latest version (16.0.6?) It put itself in a folder in Applications. (Possible I told it to “Keep old version", or something) Clicking “Open” on a zip file only found the old version. Tried to move the new version from the folder into the Applications folder. Got message “You do not have suffiecient permissions to move this file.) So who does? I’m the admin, and it didn’t ask for the password. So, it didn’t move the new version, but apparently it did delete the old version. The old version is completely gone, not in the Trash or anywhere. Can’t re-download, because the App store page only shows option to “open.” So, I have the latest version, but my Mac can’t find it. I’m thinking I’ll have to do a manual uninstall, which is a time-consuming pain, in order to do a clean re-install. When Suffit works, it’s fine. When the install works, it’s fine. If anything goes wrong, it’s a mess, and there’s no Uninstall utility, no repair utility. You’re on your own.
You had one job! - I hadn’t needed to extract much else than zip files so never needed a utility like this until today where I needed to extract a .rar file someone sent me. I remembered the name Stuffit from back in the day and go figure, they’re still around with a version 16 product. I gave it a try and it fails to do the one thing I downloaded this program for. It said there was something wrong with the .rar file and couldn’t open it. Reading some of the other reviews, I go and download The Unarchiver and guess what? It opens right away with no issues. Stuffit, you had one job. You’re at version 16! No time for you, the nostalgia isn’t going to cut it. Unistalled.
