StitchBuddy - I’ve been using StitchBuddy for years. For a long time, this was the only software I could find that would work on a Mac and allow you to see your design. I still use it as my default app for looking at the various elements of the design and converting to different formats. Now, StitchBuddy has some editing capability too which is handy. It’s just an easy to open and fast too use program when I don’t want to use full editing program. As a side note, Matthias is always very responsive to my queries—even on weekends! Give it a try—it’s well worth it!
StitchBuddy is awesome! - I purchased the new Janome MC500E embroidery machine this past spring. There was no mention on the outside of the box or in the literature about the machine that indicated that it was NOT compatible with the Apple IOS computer system. I called the shop where I purchased the machine and they verified that it was only compatible with a PC (windows environment). I then went online to research if there was a program that would enable me to use my Apple computer with embroidery designs. I discovered StitchBuddy and decided to use the trial program which allows for 50 login uses. I fell in love with the program. VERY easy to use and if at anytime I have a question, a simple email to the designer, Matthias Arndt, I would receive an email in return within an hour or so giving me explicit instructions on how to accomplish whatever I was trying to do. I have recommended this program to the quilt shop where I purchased the machine and I have recommended this program to many embroidery friends, especially those working with the Apple computer. Give it a try and see how easy it is to change thread color, work with designs and then place them via a smart disk into your embroidery machine. It is a wonderful tool. Thank you Mathias for your hard work at designing a great tool. Fishers, Indiana
Lots of use - I’ve used StitchBuddy for about 3-4 years now. As a hobby sewist, I started with an embroidery machine that was only capable of 4"x4” designs, but have since upgraded to a much larger machine. I’ve enjoyed this software for both machines. As a Mac-only owner, this software has given me the ability to customize embroidery files. I can create monograms, add names/words, adjust design sizes … I’ve created hundreds of items now, and only recall having two design flaws (design too big by just a few stitches for my smallest hoop size.) I’ve pushed this software and my smaller machine to the limits! I wouldn’t have been able to create custom designs without this program or without having to buy a new computer system and MUCH more expensive design program. Works great for me as a hobby, and have really enjoyed using it.
Disappointed - After much research, I decided to give Stich Buddy Pro a try. Paid the 50$. Turns out it won’t save anything over 30,000 stitches (which is NOT mentioned on this page ANYWHERE) and as such it is no longer of much use for me. Had I known it wouldn’t save anything of 30K I wouldn’t have purchased it. Very Disappointing. . . . . EDIT: Customer service was excellent from the designer. For that I bump up my rating to 4 stars,
