It doesn work - Only the US voices work, and only partially with an echo. For mac users the TextEdit app that comes with the mac has a better reader. Alo try Text Reader, which is better and not very expensive. SpeaktoMe is free so it can't be a waste of money, but it is a waste of time.
Nice app but needs to mature - This app could be very useful if you want to study a foreign language or add some audio to a movie. However, it looks unpolished, for example CMD-A to select the entire text does not work (neither there's a way to clear the buffer of text to speak), it is not possible to load a text file to read, and it is not possible to stop the speech once it starts. Also, some voices do not work (i.e. nothing is spoken), it does not remember selected voice settings, and it is not possible to mark favorite voices for later use. None the less, this app has potential and it would be interesting to see future developments.
Doesnt work - Only about 10% of the voices work. Dont understand the purpose as this capability already exists in the Mac…I guess its supposed to be a short cut but defeats the purpose when most of the voices I tried did not play at all. Very disappointing. Even various English and Spanish ones failed…when they work when I use it via the Mac OS directly
