* Movie and TV Show info - automatically add key info about your movies
* Subtitles - include subtitles, add external subtitles and even load subtitles from the web!
* Audio tracks - include any or all of the audio tracks in your movies

* Decide whether to send converted files to iTunes

BEST Converter I Have Ever Used - I don't know why some people are determined to leave bad reviews? This converter works great! I have used many different converters and find this to be the best. It adds cover art, descriptions, actors and all other metadata to a film or TV show. I will agree that some formats convert slower than others but a lot is going on when converting videos. (A quad core with a dedicated GPU will help more than anything). I would say that 90% of what I convert is done in under 1 minute. Try to get videos with x264 they will be done in no time. In regards to resolution it really depends on what you start with. In other words don't expect to start off with a standard definition video and end up with an HD copy. When I convert HD videos I see no noticeable difference in quality between the original and converted copy. However I'm only an avid film watcher with more than 1000 movies in my library. I would recommend you spend the money if your an iTunes junkie and love your metadata attached to the films.

Has no business being called “Pro" - Any converter that is as slow as this one and that does not include AVCHD to ProRes as one of its outputs should not be called “PRO.” Most pros use ProRes in Final Cut Pro. Final Cut has not made it easy to transfer AVCHD into FCP 7 (which for many remains the preferred version) and the purpose of a third-party converter is to facilitate what cannot be done otherwise. Further the “force conversion of AVCHD” option defaults to the OFF position, creating the appearance of a fast conversion when in fact the final output is riddled with unstable frames, rendering it unusable by pros. Turning ON the “force conversion” results in one of the slowest conversions I have seen to date, the reward for which is an H264 format which must then be RE-RENDERED using some other program into ProRes 422 so that it can be used by FCP. Part of the problem lies in FCP’s whacked and wonky file and transfer function, it is true, but either SmartConverter Pro should add an AVCHD to ProRes422 option to its paid app version or it should not be called “Pro.” Pros who haven’t migrated to Premier or FCP X simply cannot use this program, and if they HAVE, they have no need of this program. A waste of $$.

By far the fastest and greatest video converter - Has every option to convert to: Apple TV, Quicktime, MKV, AVI, FLAC, Playstation, Windows and on and on and on. I just had to convert 5 movies into MKV for a friend, It took me 14 minutes to convert all 5. Yes, converting to bigger formats like MOV goes slower then convertting to MKV but its still faster and much more seamless then the others i found. Plus its extremely user friendly…totally worth the 15 bucks to purchase!!!! Jake

Has never failed me - I use this app at work to convert the varioius video files people who have PCs send me so that I can play them within PowerPoint on my Mac. It has gotten me out of some tight, last-minute situations right before a big presentation. So far, everything I've thrown at it it has converted. Also, it seems to be really smart in that when it is a simple means of changing how the underlying information is wrapped, it does the conversion in a few seconds. Very impressive. Update: I've been using this app for years now. I bought a version for home because it just works. No need to waist any time when converting a file. Drop it in, select the destination format and off it goes. The cost is more than worth the time saved. Also, the ability to convert any file placed in a designated folder, convert, load to iTunes and clean up after itself is awesome.

Decent, but not as comprehensive as it could be - Converting is notably easier and faster than v1, and it has rocksolid stability. Integration of Notifications is a nice touch. Fact is, the application was already very well thought out, and the revisions add finesse to an already easy-to-use application. The app is relatively small, tightly written, and easy to use. Use of different subtitle types is limited, and sometimes, a batch conversion is botched by something as simple as an .mkv prefix. As result, I find myself using Handbrake and Handbrake Batch a lot more than Smart Converter Pro.

Disappointed - Really disappointed with this product. Have never paid $15 for an app before and saw reviews and assumed this must be a legitimate service. Once you purchase the app, there are absolutely no instructions for how to use it. My computer ran for 48 hours “converting” videos and when I tried to access them, they were nowhere to be found. Tried again after discovering that I needed to select a destination file for the videos. STILL did not convert. Contacted customer service and after several days of waiting for response, their assistance was of absolutely no help and my video files still will not convert. I am at a loss for what to do. My “Christmas” gift for my family of old home movies on a DVD is now a wash, 4 days after the holiday, and I am out $15 on a useless piece of technology. Do not recommend AT ALL.
