Does the trick but needs some improvements - This is a pretty basic app that does an efficient job opening songs from your library and allowing you to choose which portion to use for a ringtone. Just click a button and the new tone appears in iTunes, ready to sync to your iPhone. But the interface is a bit frustrating. You can zoom in or out so you can start and stop the ringtone exactly where you want, but if you zoom, it changes the points where the clip begins and ends, so you have to start the process all over again. Also the fade in and out sliders are very inexact and even when I chose no fade out, when I played back the ringtone it still faded out at the end instead of stopping exactly where I wanted. Also, there doesn't seem to be any way to choose whether to save the tone as an alert tone so it shows up in the correct list on my phone. So this does the trick if you want to make ringtones from your songs but it is very basic and needs some improvements to make it more user friendly. It might be worth about $1 or $2 but not $5.
So so ringtone creator - I'd like to give this app a higher rating, considering the amount of time I've spent using it, but the fact is it's extremely limited for the price. There are plenty of free ringtone creators out there that have more features than this pay app. The interface is easy enough and it saves out to your iTunes tones with zero problem, but if you plan on creating a lot of ringtones the process becomes tedious. Without a time scrubber you're forced to keep replaying entire samples simply to make small adjustments. If you just want something simple the app works without issue, but without more nuanced control, that price is way too high.
