Quiet Read is Mac OS X application that lets you save any link for later.

Sometimes, when I am browsing the web, I want to store a link for later. There are note taking applications and everything-buckets to do that, but I wanted something light and simple. Simple as dragging a link to Quiet Read to store it.

But that's not all, there's much more you can do with your links:

Send links to Instapaper.
Send links to Read It Later.
Send links to Delicious.
Send links to Pinboard.
Shorten links.
Global shortcut.
Link list search and filter.
Two separate listings: Inbox and Archive.
Multiple link selection.
Extended sorting options.
Export to CSV.
Export to HTML.
MobileMe syncing.

Quiet Read is available in English, Traditional Chinese, Polish, Greek, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Dutch, Russian and Spanish.

Release Notes:

- New contextual menu in the dock icon.
- Fixes a bug in the "Move to Archive".
- Works better with third party apps.
- Fixes a bug in the Spanish localization that prevents MobileMe sync.

You need to be clear that it doesn't sync - For a $10 app that works with ReadItLater and Insta, most people are going to assume there is syncing. Why? Because that's what 99% of other apps provide. I spent 20 minutes trying to figure out how to get it to sync. The only way I found out was a @bambaooapps tweet that said "no, it won't. QR does not sync with Instapaper, it just sends links to the service" If you just change the description and BE CLEAR that there isn't syncing, I'll raise the number of stars of this review. But until you offer syncing, I'll be using another app.

Definitely not worth $9.99 - There are free web browser plugins that offer vastly more features than this app. It merely sends links. Utterly a waste.

Fuggedaboutit! (was: Fantastic developer; great app) - Nov. 2012: At the time of my original review, well over a year ago, this app and its developer were right on the money. Sadly, it’s about a nanosecond from being abandonware at this point. There are better options these days. I strongly suggest you put your credit card back in your pocket, and look elsewhere. This ain’t it, folks! Old: March 2011 5 stars Surprisingly helpful little app that stays out of the way, yet is quick-draw accessible when desired. I tend to move back and forth among browsers during any given day (Firefox can get ridiculously slow; Chrome's bookmark/nav scheme irritates me). Sometimes I just want to capture a link for one-click visits later, without polluting my bookmarks. This is perfect, as I can no-fuss get to the link, archive it after visiting the site or indulge various other options. While I do have both InstaPaper Pro and Read It Later Pro accounts, this one little app offers so many more options, thus allowing me to kill several addons/bookmarklets across all browsers. It's super handy & efficient, with a serious bonus: one of the most attentive and gracious devs I've encountered in quite some time. (P.S. And it now loves Choosy, the one app I use dozens of times a day-- wherever there's a live link/URL-- be it Reader, DevonThink, PostBox, etc!)
