Highly recommended for learning Spanish - I highly recommend this app! It is an excellent introduction to speaking Spanish. It would be particularly useful to someone who is planning to take a trip to a Spanish speaking country, and wants to learn some basic words and phrases in Spanish. I studied Spanish in college, and this app helped refresh my memory for an upcoming trip to Spain.

Not at all what I expected - You can't manipulate the conversation, may I don't want garlic prawn for dinner. $1.99 down the drain.

The app is ok - I’m learning Spanish via a paid program (disk, iPhone and iPad app, and online access) called Fluenz. I’m currently on Spanish 3, lessons 6-7 (out of 5 levels, 30 lessons each). In the restaurant vocabulary of this app, I’ve noticed some inconsistencies between the two learning applications…for instance, “I would like something to eat”, via my learning through Fluenz this would be translated as, “Quisiera algo de comer”. However, according to this app it is translated as, “Quieres algo de comer” which, in Spanish (Spain) this would mean, “I WANT something to eat, not I WOULD LIKE something to eat.” Quieres means “I want” in Spain Spanish (Quiero is used for “I want” in Latin American Spanish)….”Quieres" does not mean “I would like”…”Quisiera" means “I would like”. This may seem like something small because “want” and “would like” have very similar meanings in English, however, if you are going to teach the correct way of saying something, teach the correct way of saying it as it is translated. If the phrase was “I want something to eat”, then “Quieres algo de comer” would be the correct translation, however, the phrase is “I would like something to eat”, therefore, the correct translation would be “Quisiera algo de comer”.
