The only one worth getting - Actually, I may not have tried *every* other solution, but none of the others I’ve tried came even close to Photosweeper. I threw a 160Gb Aperture library at it and it didn’t blink. WIth the library on an SSHD, it was amazingly fast at finding - for all practical purposes - all the duplicates. A few minutes, really. (Expect a much longer process if using a disk drive instead of SSHD, but that’s nothing that any program can cut down for you.) At least one of the other popular solutions out there marks duplicates but doesn’t let you see them side by side with all the info you need to make decisions, which Photosweeper does. You can also just let it go to town and delete based on your criteria after you’ve tightened it up enough to feel that you can trust the results. (Pretty important when trying to merge and purge a bunch of old iPhoto/Aperture libraries with about an 80% overlap, like I needed to do.) A lifesaver. Actually, it’s saved the recorded history of everyone in my family, so that’s a bunch of lives.
Doesn’t work with Photos - Kind of weird that this was promoted just as Photos came out, which would lead you to believe it woks with Photos (and in fact it strongly implies it does in their tutorial). It doesn’t, which makes it sort of useless at this point, so I’d strongly recommend waiting on this purchase, or at least get a trial version and see if will work on your target photo collection first.

PhotoSweeper saved my digital life - I have been struggling for years with how to handle old iPhotos libraries that crashed, hard copies of pictures I had scanned and all the digital life that photos have and seem to catch up without us know or with us knowingly enabling the mess. I have tried to do things manually and gave up. I tried to write a script through Automator with no luck and I have tried the odd suggestions from friends and people in the same boat but was never able to find the one thing that can easily locate my duplicates and make sense of the mess that I had created. Well look no further… PhotoSweeper does it all. I had over 194,000 images and many of them were duplicates, triplicates, Octuplets you name it and I had it. I worked with Adam Reyna (who is AMAZING) at Apple to help me rebuild my broken iMac and then when we had exhausted all options for an easy fix I gave Jon at the Overmacs team a shout and he worked for several days with me on how to load the libraries and odd folders and get them sorted. My first goal was to eliminate any duplicates, keeping the important Metadata. My next goal will be to find series of shots based on a specific intervals and eliminate blurry pictures or photos that are not worth keeping. PhotoSweeper has the ability to work with your pictures no matter how many or how few and based on the perameters you set for your search, it will get it done in minutes or seconds. Having access to assistance is wonderful for me because I am not a reader of instructions when they get down into the complicated stuff. I will say they do have good instructions but there are a few glitches they need to tweak such as PhotoSweeper still referring to iPhoto instead of Photos when deciding to finally delete my duplicated images. Overmacs would benefit strongly from hiring someone who has the ability to understand the application inside and out and write a simple set of easy to follow instruction (with pictures) that can keep up with how fast updates and such come out. But aside from that I am so happy to be a PhotoSweeper customer and if you are a digital mess as I was look for further for your savior.
Easy to use and effective - There have been continual improvements in this program to make comparing photos easier and getting the junk out of your Photos library more efficient. They have paid attention to the details and you will be able to get up to speed quickly in removing redundant photos and reclaming tons of space.
Exactly what I wanted - This program compares same pictures in multiple formats. This is exactly what I was looking for. It allows me to make several versions of a picture, then compare them and delet the one(s) I don’t want. It’s perfect for my needs. Love the side-by-side comparison of the pictures. I would recommend it.
Easy, fast, efficient!! - I cleared out over 300mb of space inherited from Apereture, iPhoto and now Photos. I could have done it one by one but with over 9000 photos?
