Rate of Innovation Astounding - I think what keeps Readdle very compelling is their ability to adapt and rapidly release new product features. I’ve already sent feedback for them to remember page position and they have quickly implemented that. Now I’ve suggested automatically saving page position across devices and to have an option to get rid of the highlighting color window and hopefully they will implement that soon. As a power PDF user, this product is quickly becoming more powerful than Adobe Acrobat Professional at a fraction of the price. With continued improvements I imagine that in a few months it will be the standard for PDFs on the Mac as PDF Expert has become on the iOS platform. Great job Readdle team and I hope you continue to improve the product rapidly as you have been thus far!
Not worth $20 - Yes, it scrolls smoothly. No better or worse than Preview. Yes, it can annotate PDFs, slightly better than preview (and that’s an emphatic qualification). But this app still doesn’t feel like it justifies its own existence, even for annotations. Connected to a Wacom tablet, it doesn’t detect stylus pressure - and when the pen is selected, a gigantic menu slides out of the right hand side obscuring the PDF document - making this app seem a bit like it promised much more than it was ready to deliver. If you want an application to highlight some text - great. This is the $20 app for you. But if you actually need to annotate something, especially with any kind of professional finesse, I’m sorry but this is not the app you’re looking for.

Teacher Dream Tool - This is the first PDF editor I’ve ever used, so I can’t compare it to anything else, but I know I felt like I got my money’s worth out of it after just one use. I spent all last year jumping through all sorts of complicated, time-consuming, and blurry hoops to reproduce/edit/alter PDFs or to excise just one page out of a 57 page PDF to give to my students. This is like magic. Three clicks and I can create a new PDF containing just one page (or 3 pages or 6 or…whatever) of a larger PDF file; rearranging pages is a matter of click & drag; and I can so easily create an answer key by duplicating a page and then editing it in any color ink I choose. Or, if some of the questions on a PDF document don’t apply to my students, I can select and delete them and then type in whatever my students need. Teachers Pay Teachers has always been a phenomenal resource; this editing tool has allowed me to use documents from there in an entirely new way.
So very many bugs... - So, first of all, nice functionality. But so many, many bugs. It’s the only app on my mac that still has the dreaded Spinning Beachball when simply navigating around the app itself. (And this happens on a fully pimped 2017 13” MBPro). When saving a file as “Flattened”, it deletes ALL the of the text on a page where any annotations were made. Leaving a completely blank page. I could go on; but heading back to ‘Preview’; it’s not as pretty or as functional, but it works. The app coders need to step up their testing game. It’s a great app to ‘read’ information on; lousy to actually edit PDF’s.
Ok, but - A simple thing like merging files should be easy. It is with PDF Expert, except for the fact that it will not allow you to dictate the order in which multiple files merge. I hate that! Other than that it works pretty well for creating and modifying .pdf documents.
I use this app almost daily - Feature after feature is added to Readdle apps. Scan from Scanner pro and import seamleasly into PDF Expert with text recognizer! I am a preacher and Each week I upload my sermon to dropbox as a PDF then before I preach I highlight my sermon with various colors making it simple to refernce my points. There will be many times that I notice a typo… no problem click edit text and I can correct my PDF on the spot! Worth the $ all day long… Especually when it come to integration, It just works. I am sitting with my computer open editing a file, pick up my ipad and I can open the app and gain access to the file that is on my computer. When things work like they are suppose to they are worth every penny… Thanks Readdle!
Lots of promise but does not work well - Every time I open PDF to edit it, it does not work well at all. For example when I try to insert words into a paragraph it does not keep the formating, and selects by default a different font, different size and color, and changing it to match is a real challange. You select a text, click in the menu, but menu would close. No OCR, and in general interface is not that usable, In the end I feel that I wasted money on this app and will have to find something else.
