***New users: Thanks for choosing the new Dana II. Welcome to the family!***
A wise man once said "We are all at the mercy of our wild monkey minds. Incessantly swinging from branch to branch." With multiple windows and applications all vying for our attention, we have sadly adapted our working habits to that of the computer and not the other way around.
OmmWriter is a humble attempt to recapture what technology has snatched away from us today: our capacity to concentrate.
Voted as best new application by cultofmac users in 2009, OmmWriter is a tool that makes writing a pleasure again, allowing users to be alone with their thoughts; to concentrate and to write without distractions. More than a word processor, OmmWriter is a place to get inspired.
The secret to OmmWriter lies in its simplicity and apparent lack of functionality. OmmWriter Dāna pays special attention to audio and visual effects that contribute to the overall writing experience. We have spent a considerable amount of research time and effort in the audio-visual experience to promote and enhance creativity. Dāna II is the fruit of this investigation with new dynamic backgrounds employing chromatherapy techniques as well as new sound effects.
If you are a scriptwriter, blogger, journalist, copywriter, poet or just someone who enjoys writing, welcome back to concentrating.
What others are saying:
“You either love it or you hate it. Some Cult readers loved it so much they voted it as one of the best new applications of last year.” –John Turnbull for Cult of Mac
“Part word processor, part work of art, OmmWriter is a must for people who journal, blog, or do any kind of writing where creativity and idea-generation is key. Give it a try.” -Michael Grothaus for TUAW
“The modern computer experience is amazing for distracting you from work… Omm Writer Dana doesn’t lock you in a dark room until you force the words out, but rather creates a space in your head that allows you to focus on what you want to say.” -Bill Stitleler for Appletell

This version has one major change: All the audio is completely new. The reason why is that we no longer have the legal rights to use the old music in OmmWriter.
This updated version contains 4 new music tracks, 3 new ambient sounds, and 7 new keystroke sounds. The total number of audio options is the same as before. All other major features are also the same as before.
If you make this update, you'll be unable to use the audio that you have in your current app store version of OmmWriter. If you do make this update, you'll discover a less piano-based audio with softer strokes and richer textures.
If you want to hold on to the old tracks while finishing a project, then you can always keep the current version. If you're ready for a change, come join us on our new audio journey.
Happy listening and writing to everyone!

My fav app - This app is great, but WHY would you get rid of all the old good ambient sounds? They replaced them with annoying tracks, they should keep all the music.
A great idea gone wrong. Don't buy version 1.3. - When I first found Ommwriter Dana II, I thought I had found the perfect writing software. I am really shocked at how bad this new version is. I wished I had NOT upgraded. There is tons of static on the music tracks that distract you from your writing. Plus the new music suddenly jumps into melodies that are distracting and draw attention to themselves in uncreative ways. Prior to upgrade the music was tonal and didn't interfere with creativity. Now it does to a terrible degree. I had to shut it off. I ended up going back to MS Word. I was totally wowed by this program, but this new upgrade is a step backward and over a cliff -- yes, it's that bad. I cannot recommend this software to anyone in it's current state. Indeed, it is a waste of your money. Such a shame, it was a brilliant idea. Now, it's junk.

Only missing iCloud - I love this app, but find myself writing more in Pages simply because it syncs with my iPad via iCloud. Please add iCloud support!!
Great but bring back the old sounds! - Love the app, and I enjoy the new ambient sounds, but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE allow us to use the old one's as well! The first sound that I heard when I opened the app really made me connect with it…and I simply miss it! THANKS!
Beauty plus simplicity equals just about perfect - I just started using this app and I love it! If you want a distraction-free writing experience, then this is the app for you. Not only is it easy to use, but it is beautiful which makes it all the more enjoyable. I have read some of the comments about the soundtrack and it hasn't been a problem for me because I use it with the built-in sound turned off and just tune in to the Lisa Kelly channel on Pandora. BTW: Integration with Pandora would be a nice feature to add to an already terrific app. For all of those people out there who don't like the soundtrack, I suggest you get PandaBar which is a pefect compliment to this app.
Fix this app! its almost good. - Do not buy this yet!!! This is really not finished and they are selling it, very slimy…. The writing part of ths application is nice, simple, minimal, but they have really been negligent in their programming. It is completely usless if you use multiple desktops, the white background will be on one desktop, the writing on another, etc.. usless. You guys should finish this app, it will be good if you do. It is not compatible with the operating systems they say it is. Beware.
How to Restore the Missing Original Songs! - Cost: $10. Simply sharing what worked for me! Buy David Ummmo’s album (vol 1) on iTunes. Itunes preferenes, import prefs, export as WAV. Highlight the downloaded album and export as WAV. Drag the WAV files to desktop. Run the “Encode selected audio files” script from Automator and export as high-quality. They’re now m4a files which the program can read. open applications folder and show enclosed contents of the application by right clicking. In Contents->Resources, you’ll find ambiente1-3 files and songs 1-4. Simply rename the m4a files on your desktop the exact same as these files. There are 4 songs and 3 ambients on your desktop. Listen to them to know which they are. Then take the v1.3 update music and copy it to a folder for backup, and replace it with your purchased music. Voila! You can now enjoy the songs that were originally with your program. So much better! I am not responsible for any computer damage or data loss as a result of attempting this strategy, or any other issues that occur.
