Description:

Plan and manage your projects; solve problems; brainstorm and organize ideas; get things done better and with less hassle.

NovaMind 5 Platinum is the top of the line Mind Mapping software with easy to use yet powerful Mind Map creation and layout, unmatched design freedom, task management features, and a complete presentation system built in and a complete screenwriting system for writing movie & tv screenplays.

Create interesting and meaningful Mind Maps using the wide range of different shaped topics such as lines, rectangles, cloud shapes, parallelograms, arrows and ovals. You can even use custom shaped topics, giving you unparalleled flexibility of topic shapes.

Using NovaMind is easy because it has familiar toolbars and inspectors, customizable window layout, single click insertion of topics, hotkeys for all common operations, layout assistance to keep your Mind Maps looking great automatically, automatic coloring and topic shapes to make your Mind Maps visually appealing without all the work. Printing assistance shows you exactly how your Mind Map will appear when printed, including how big your text will be when printed. Automatic text coloring makes your text white when on a dark background and black when on a light background - no need to worry about legibility.

Callouts (like speech bubbles) add extra information. Floating topics allow you to create separate mini-Mind Maps on the same canvas. Group topics visually using boundaries. Attach free floating shapes, images and text to topics. They can either push other topics out of the way or float behind or in front of the other topics. Shapes can have text and images on them, allowing you infinite flexibility to enhance your topics.

You can have multiple Mind Maps in a single document, with hyperlinks between topics either on the same Mind Map or different Mind Maps. Add topic notes to record extra information. Hyperlink to as many web sites as you like on a single topic. Drag and drop emails from Mail to hyperlink to emails. Attach other files to topics as part of your NovaMind document.

The layout system keeps the Mind Map in the most compact format possible while allowing you the freedom to lay out subtopics at any angle from their parent, either linearly or radially. You can move any topic to wherever you want it, and NovaMind will ensure that your topics don't overlap. No other Mind Mapping program even comes close to this.

There are over 3,000 images available directly through the media browser, which also makes available your iPhoto, Aperture, and Lightroom libraries. You can add your own folders of pictures for easy access, and do Flickr searches directly from within the media browser. You can have up to 5 images directly on each topic - 4 topic images, and a background texture.

Themes, color sets, font sets, rainbow coloring, color array coloring, and inherited styles allow for easy formatting of topics without having to set explicit settings on every topic, and to easily try out different color schemes. Individual topic settings can go right down to the level of gradient fills, glassy button look, shadows and reflections, so you can make your Mind Maps look stunning.

The in addition to all the features of NovaMind Express and Pro, the Platinum edition has task information visible on your topics, including start and finish times, duration, percentage complete, resource allocation, Address Book integration, two way synchronization of task information with iCal, project reporting, and import and export of MS Project files. It also has support for inspector workspaces for more efficient organization of your work space when working on specific Mind Mapping tasks.

NovaMind 5 fully supports full screen mode, resume, autosave, save in place, and versions.

Imports and exports include iMindMap, XMind, FreeMind, MindNode, SimpleMind, OmniOutliner, OPML, text, PDF, PNG, JPEG, TIFF, GIF, EPS, BMP, PowerPoint, Mind Manager, Excel (CSV), RTF, MS Word, MS Project.

The BEST Mind Mapping Tool on the Mac - I’ve been doing mind mapping for over 15 years (starting with mind manager by Mindjet for Windows). I switched over to Apple about six years ago and started using their Mac version. That has always been, and still is today, the stepchild for Mindjet. Recently, it completely stopped saving my mind maps. What a bummer as I have thousands of mindmaps now. So I’ve been on the hunt for a suitable replacement on the Mac environment since. I just recently started using NovaMind’s Platinum edition. I have to say it blows away every other mind mapping program I’ve come across. The features that I like are: • excellent import and export • beautiful mind maps • automatic and manual checkboxes • superior control over the arrangement of my maps • excellent formatting capabilities These are the benefits that I have discovered within the past week. I’m sure there will be more to discover and appreciate about this product. Last, but not least, is the compatibility with iThoughts. I absolutely love iThoughts and think it’s the best mind mapping program for iOS. I even have their desktop version, which is okay, but does not begin to hold a candle to NovaMind. I’ve also tried and liked X-mind. However, I find NovaMind Platinum to be visually much more appealing than X-mind. One feature that I hope the developers of NovaMind put it but I had thoroughly enjoyed in Mindjet’s MindManager is the ability to track tasks in an out of the mind maps. I use mind maps for strategic planning, but often use the desktop version of ToDo for the daily tactical tasks. With Mindjet I was able to drag tasks back and forth between ToDo in my strategic, weekly mind not. I have not yet found that feature in NovaMind so I hope the developers put it in. I hope this helps other brain stormers as it took me a while to come across NovaMind Platinum.

NOT Ready for Prime Time - Bugs!!! - This app just does NOT work with my retina Macbook screen. The text does not appear in the Topic boxes when you type it in, rather, it's invisible or some random place on the screen. Next, you can't graft a topic to another to make it a subtopic. A basic of any mindmapping program. This is JUST NOT READY to be sold. Now that I paid $149 - I'm going to try and get my money back.
