The BEST video player on OS X. - As a former MPC-HC user on Windows, after switching to OS X, I found myself looking for a comparable experience for video playback. I found Movist is the best video player on OS X, period. Dual (actually triple!) subtitle support with support for many formats, beautiful Mac-like interface, sensible hotkeys, thoughtful design, H.264 hardware acceleration, digital audio out, and tons of customizations possible. Also, the developer is very responsive and helpful. ***** HOW TO FIX THE SANDBOX ISSUE ***** Sandbox complainers, you do realize that Mac App Store developers have no choice but to implement sandbox, right? Apple is the one forcing developers to implement sandboxing into their apps. Here's the workaround to get automatic subtitle scanning and playlist adding back: open Movist preferences, click Advanced, click Security, click the +, and click on the root volume (usually Macintosh HD). Do this for each volume you use with Movist. If you want better security you can add only the folders where you keep videos, but practically I think that's not necessary.
