TRY BEFORE YOU BUY: Please visit our website to try Mountain before you buy it.

UPDATES: Mac App Store customers get the latest version of Mountain for free on our web site.

Living seamlessly in the menu bar Mountain allows you to manage volumes with ease.

● With Mountain you can mount, unmount or eject drives with two easy clicks.
Unmount a single drive or eject all external drives at once. Unmounted drives will be spinned down and can either be unpluged or reactivated in Mountain without the need to unplug the USB cable and re-plug it again.

● Mountain identifies and notifies you about applications that block drives from being ejected and allows you to easily exit the applications.

● Mountain can be set to notify you whenever a drive becomes available or an external device can be safely unplugged . A click on the notification will open the drive in Finder.

● The Mountain menu bar icon will indicate if external volumes are connected or if it is safe to unplug all connections including network connections.

Do yourself a favor... - …and update this app to the unsandboxed version for free on the developer's site. This software has replaced two other programs I've used with similar functionality and it tops them all. The ability to show and quickly remount recently mounted drives put's it over the top. My only suggestion would be that it needs some type of indicator to show that it's working while it tries to unmount your drives. Other than that, it's outstanding.

Perfect App for the price - Ignore the negative comments in reviews - This is a great program, that does exactly what it says it does, for a very reasonable price. Regarding the negative comments in some of the reviews: The developer has fixed virtually all the issues raised in these reviews. It's just that Apple won't let him release the version that fixes all the issues in the App Store, because the updated version violates the App Store's "Sandboxing" rules. I know Apple means well, but this is a perfect example of where sandboxing is a hinderance. Fortunately, it's very easy to get the updated version. Here's what you do: 1) Purchase this app from the App Store, and run it once. 2) The first screen that pops up explains how to get the improved version, FOR FREE. 3) Just follow the instructions. It's simple. You just click a link to download the updated version, unzip it, and drag it to Applications. I highly recommend reading the developer's FAQ also (menu Support->Help), as it answers some very relevant questions. There's a couple of preferences you may want to change right at the start, so read it. A few of the "issues" resolved by the updated version: 1) You can disable "News" at startup. 2) You can unmount internal drives. 3) If your external drive doesn't spin down after you unmount it, there's a setting to fix that (read the FAQ). In short, if you need what this app does, then you need this app. Period. PS: I don't write many reviews. I wrote this one because this app is the perfect combination of helpfulness and price, and the negative reviews ticked me off because the developer obviously cares enough to fix the issues, so I thought someone should point this out.

Internal drives only half supported - Mountain will mount internal volumes but won't unmount them - the unmount menu items for internal volumes are grayed out. The author should emphasize the fact that this program works as advertised for external volumes only.

Terrific App and Support - If you have any issues with external drives this is extremely helpful - especially if they are ever erratic e.g. randomly unmount themselves, or don't remount after they go to sleep. Great for re-mounting drives that are physically connected but don't show in Finder - Mountain recognizes them and can mount them. You don't have to unplug and replug them to get them recognized and remounted. Developers are extremely responsive, and couldn't be more reasonable. I'm very pleased! I don't usually write reviews, but these guys deserve it. BTW I'm using a MBPro with two FW800 drives daisy-chained; and my 2 kids are using MBAirs w/ the Belkin Thunderbolt Dock connected to USB 3.0 drives, ethernet, and cinema displays. It works well for all of us.

Needs customizable shortcuts - Title says it all. Everything seems to work as stated. However, the lack of customizable shortcuts makes the built-in hotkeys unusable (i.e. "Unmount all removable" is assigned to command+E, which is already used in many applications including Chrome). EDIT: Recent updates remove the shortcuts altogether. Also, support for "partitioned" external hard drives used as Time Machines is incomplete. Ejecting a Time Machine causes it to eject in the finder. Unplugging the hard drive after using Mountain to eject, however, causes an improper ejection dialog to pop up.
