Probably the best current finance app - Like a lot of reviewers for previous versions here, I was looking for a OS X-compatible replacement for Quicken. Money by Jumsoft gives you that for sure, together with the Dropbox-syncable complementary apps for iOS. Syncing among the three apps has been really good since the last update (admittedly, there’d been a few hiccups before). There is not quite the number of features that Quicken has, but as a tradeoff you get polished interface and great usability. Minor quibble, the report design could be better. It takes a while to get used to the horizontal layout, and easier navigation would be a plus.

I tried to like this app. I really tried... - In a previous review of Money I defended Jumsoft and the application both. At the end of it all, however, I have simply given up. It took me a bit longer than most to come around to the fact that the more things change with this application the more they simply stay the same. Problems of long standing (sync issues, location services and others) perpetuate themselves from one version release to the next, and, in some instances, new ones are introduced. I do not know what the issues are at Jumsoft, but it is obvious that listening to customer feedback is very low on the list of priorities. All of the complaining, patience and expectations essentially result in no real changes. The entire thing is yet but another example of a developer releasing an application before it is truly ready and then expecting customers to serve as beta testers. Since the customers have to pay for the previledge of doing what the Jumsoft developers should haved done in the first place it is only reasonable to expect that the developers listen to the feedback and respond accordingly. There is little to no evidence that this is to ever be the case. To that end, I have thrown in the towel and moved on to other means of keeping track of my finance needs. When you and your product are not the only game in town how can you not realize that winning over customers boils down to actually competing and putting out a better result? Sigh...

Easy to enter info, but not the easiest to figure out other stuff - Very easy and fast to enter spending info while at the store register! But I am still trying to figure out the reporting and budgeting features. For example, I need to track my moving expenses against a budget, but so far I have not found a way to budget specific categories. It seem like you cannot, but that seems like such a basic thing, that I must be missing something. I use this on my iphone and MAC and will try to integrate this on my husband’s iphone and ipad. I like how the more often you use a category, that it moves up the list from where you choose. I also like the screen and font they use for entering expense, it is like a blackboard, and easy to read. This screen makes it pleasurable to enter my transactions, rather than a business like screen (that would be no fun, ugh, like journaling your food intake…boring). Regular font for everything else, as it should be.
