Great compliment to a great app - This was already a great app on my iPhone and iPad but the Mac app is an awesome addition! Love working on my macbook and getting my text messages coming in and being able to reply fast from my keyboard. Must have !
Doesn’t work. - I’m running OS X Yosemite. I am able to login perfectly fine, but when the main screen appears, it loads.. and loads.. and none of my messages appear. Also, I can only send messages - I don’t receive anybody else’s messages, even though they appear on the web version of Messages+ and on my phone. This makes this app extremely useless. I hope Verizon can fix it!

a good start, but still a resource hog - Great to have a texting app like this on my MacBook. Downsides: Buggy. Under OSX Sierra, it will often hog 100% processor time, obviously dragging down the machine with it. Often crashes, esp. on waking from sleep. An app that draws bubbles of text needs nearly 1/2 a gig of RAM? Often does not sync with my texts sent from my iPhone. Either nothing appears at all, or empty gray boxes appear where sender’s text should be. Obviously it knows something about the message; it even has the message details if I look under the Message Info option. Plus there are many unintuitive interface elements.. Perhaps if Verizon spent more time polishing its core functions and less time adding inscruitable multimedia junk, it would become a good solid app. UPDATE 3/16: Perhaps something changed on the server side of things as I’m currently not having the empty-bubbles problem. Still lots of spinning beach-ball though.
THIS IS NOT OKAY! - Verizon - A global leading company in providing telecommunications services. A company that charges the most and gives the least. But you would at least expect a properly functioning app. This app is truly a disaster. It doesn’t function. At all. I’ve had it installed for over a year and have to use the Verizon Web App instead. It doesn’t sync. If it does, then hours and hours later. When you start typing a message, it permanently freezes and you get the spinning Mac color wheel of death. Then you force quit it, thinking it’s a one-time error. It’s not. It happens when you restart. Sometimes, even before you can type a message. Often, when you click on a chat name. Most of the time, even when you don’t click on anything. This is an absolute disaster for a company as large as Verizon. I really hope the next update will come with an actually functioning app.
Howling pig from hell - I am running on a very recent MBP Retina with SDD and lots of ram. A fine machine that is used for many programming and simulation tasks which suffers no other problems. It suffers with this app. This app…this dragging amateurish attempt at programming… this howling pig from hell. It is so very slow. It hangs. It stalls. It blanks characters in the messages until you resize the screen. They should find a better way to not use this and integrate with other useful messaging applications.
Does not work with Sierra - This app was functional on El Capitan. It wasn’t great, but it was functional. Since updating to Sierra, it’s completely unusable. Outgoing messages sent from the iMac do not sync with the app on my phone. Also, random messages on the iMac’s screen show up as blank bubbles without text. The workaround I was given was to toggle the size of the font. That works until the next message comes in, and then I need to toggle again in order to read the newest message. ** update ** the above issue was resolved, but this still only deserves three stars. The app is completely unstable. It crashes frequently and is a huge resource hog. If there was a viable alternative that worked with Verizon I would jump on it. I text a lot for work and the ability to do so from a desktop or laptop is huge. I’ve tried other solutions and nothing else works regardless of whether or not the phone has a signal.
I Want to Like It, but... - This could be a great solution to cross-platform messaging. For me, the app never closes (requires force quit), it hangs the moment I start a message, is slow to launch, and does not show the text of incoming messages. That’s a bummer. I really want to like this app, and I expected something great from Big Red, but this isn’t doing it for me. Uninstalling.
