Does exatly what it says it does - This app will not hide your menu, Apple doesn't allow apps to do that. What this app will do is the next best thing and that is to dim your menu bar. I have the settings so that my menu bar is colored to the same color as the black border on my MBP screen. I can't see my menu bar and that is primarily what I wanted. People complaining that this app doesn't hide their menu bar didn't take the time to read the description before purchasing.

Avoid - This app is almost worth buying for the experience—after realizing that it doesn't actually "hide" your menu bar so much as crudely obscure it with a colored bar (color of your choosing!)—of visiting the develop's website to read the passive-aggressive and oddly-written FAQ in which he rails against those simpletons who bought his app to get rid of their menu bars, when every thinking person knows the Mac menu-bar, like death and taxes, is a grim and unalterable fact of human existence. "For MANY YEARS I've been saying that it is impossible," he reminds us, "yet people still blame Menu Eclipse for not being 'able' to do so.'" With this review I do officially add my name to this roster of mooncalves. After some experimenting I am convinced, yes, that Menu Eclipse is not "able" to hide my menu bar, and, yes, I blame it.

Pretty cool app - This is a pretty cool app if you are doing full screen work and want to get rid of the top menu bar. My only complaint is that it does not dim the bar on multiple monitors. I run two external monitors and only my Mac monitor dims. The two side monitors do not dim.

Doesn’t work correctly in Mavericks - UPDATE: Now that Mavericks places the menu bar on both monitors, this app no longer works correctly. If you are only using one monitor it works just fine, but if you have two monitors the bar that normally gets drawn over the menu bar will only get drawn on one screen. If you have two different sized screens, the bar will sometimes get drawn across the middle of the smaller one instead of across the menu bar. I contacted the developer about this months ago. Their response was “I don’t have any way to test this because I don’t have two monitors.”, and that was that. I’m assuming this will never get fixed. Bottom line: This is app completely useless if you have multiple monitors. ORIGINAL: This app does EXACTLY what it says it does: "Dim, Colorize and Scrub the menu bar". I set it to 100% black and it blends in perfectly with the bezel on my iMac & MBP. Mousing over undims it right away, the speed of which can be configured in preferences. I don't have a clue why you would expect it to do something it doesn't say it does and then give it a bad review. I don't see anywhere that it claims to hide your menu bar. I also don't see what it being or not being has to do with anything at all. I'm on Mountain Lion and it works perfect.

Does the job… "hides" the menu bar. Need 64-bit treatment - Nicely obscures a busy (and distracting) menu bar. Would be really nice to have it upgraded to 64-bit like virtually all my other apps.

Amazing - Simply amazing. Great work. Keep updating you blessed human being for making one of the coolest little apps that makes the Mac UI experience so much more enjoyable. Apple should hire you to help develop their latest OS. Or have you on board as a consultant. A product well worth downloading.
