iCLOUD OR LOCAL STORAGE
Choose to save your recordings in a local folder on your Mac or in iCloud Drive for instant access from your other devices.
See everything at a glance including the current input device and a level meter so you can start recording straight away. The Just Press Record icon in the Menu Bar at the top of the screen is ideal for when you need to kick off a recording quickly. We've also added support for the Touch Bar on the new MacBook Pro.
Use your Mac's built-in microphone or an external audio interface or USB microphone. Record in stereo or mono - ideal for voice recordings.
Press and hold the M key during a recording and your microphone will be silenced. As soon as you release the M key your mic will be live again. Perfect for when you need to cough!
UNLIMITED RECORDING TIME
With unlimited recording time you can record just about anything, so long as you have enough storage on your Mac or iCloud!
Files are saved by date and time and can be easily renamed and arranged in Finder so you can locate your files easily.
Recordings can be saved to uncompressed AIFF files for maximum quality or to iTunes AAC format to save space.
Improved compatibly with recordings made with Just Press Record on iOS 11 and watchOS 4.

Exactly what I was looking for. - In all honesty, this should only cost about $1, but it gets the job done. Records quickly in lossless format, saves to a specific folder, can choose whatever input I would like.
Does Not Play It’s Own Recording! - In theory this app seems useful, we all have these ideas, reminders etc. that we like to record. But his app does not even play back it’s own recordings! How absurd is that? I get an error message stating that Just Press Cannot open recordings “Apple MPEG-4 format”. That is the format that this app records in. There are no options to choose any other format. And when I went to their website to get tech support, there is no support page and no way to ask them questions. It does store the recordings on iCloud and you can access them from their iOS app, for which they charge extra. The developer needs to test the apps before putting them up for sale, these guys need to get their act together.
More Reviews for Current Version
MacOS Version is minimally useful - and poorly described / misleading - I just started using Just Press Record for iOS and like it for quick voice notes and easy transcription, but the Mac version is limited and poorly - even misleadingly - described. The current release description says it doesn’t generated transcripts itself, but “You can view your transcripts from your iOS app in Just Press Record for Mac”. A developer reply to a review question says transcript generation is currently iOS only because that’s the only api Apple currently supports, but that they’re eager to add Mac support if/when Apple adds MacOS support. Fair enough. But “You can view your transcripts from your iOS app in Just Press Record for Mac” is misleading. All I can see its **The first 60 or so characters in a non-scrolling text area below the playback control ** shown in a non-scrolling text box below the recording control! That’s not “viewing the transcript” and greatly reduces the value of the Mac for me. That’s why I decided to buy the app rather than play the iCloud audio using iTunes or Quicktime. If that were added as a fix, I’d bump my rating to three (or maybe four) stars.
What about a pause option? - Okay, maybe you can’t implement transcribe because of Apple. But what about creating a pause option? I mean this shouldn’t be apple’s fault too.
