Inaccurate on Large Files (5+ GB) - In trying this app, I had it calculate MD5 snd SHA-1 values for files ranging in size from 100 MB to 5.6 GB. Each of the files were in zip format and the program performed flawlessly for all but the largest file. The 5.6 GB file that I ran through it was consitently wrong. For comparison, I tested with another Hash Calculator and verified that the results it was calculating for the large file were indeed wrong. Worked: Zip files up to 3.8 GB Failed: 5.6 GB Zip file for both MD5 and SHA-1 It was very easy to paste in the known hash value an then drag in a file and press the Compare button to check the values. Because of the error on large files, I cannot reccomend this program.

not useful - There is no way to paste hash values into this app. There is no way to input values without typing them in. It appears to be extracting correct hash values from files but, without an easy way to paste and compare it mostly useless. I am running mountain lion… not sure if this would also be to case in lion.

Simple Easy to Use Hash Calculator - I have been reading how Git version control system uses SHA-1 160 bit Hash numbers (40 character Hex) to track and compare files. I saw this app and thought I'd give it a try. I like it. It is very simple and also very easy. Drag a file onto the ap window and you instantly have your hash figure. Copy it to the clipboard with the copy button and then paste it wherever you want it. Nice Inexpensive Tool that does what it says. No Frills. Recommended.
