El Capitan Fix! (: - I too was having the issue with scanning from my HP All in One printer using El Capitan. Downloaded this and was able to connect and start scanning right away. I actually found i like this software better then any other software i was using. The other way i was doing this was time consuming. I had to edit and recrop all the images i was scanning. This application automatically crops the images you scan. Making it significantly shorter compared to other software and printers… Really nice (Also note if you're having issues try using USB, my HP Photosmart Premuim All in One C410A uses WPA to connect to the internet. With a new router this printer became completely outdated as it could not use Wifi anymore. So maybe USB will work better for you as well. Works great for me.)

Does Not work With Sierra - Updated, Works Now :) - I recently purchased a HP color laser jet all-in-one printer and after upgrading to Sierra I can no longer scan to my computer. I contacted HP support and after a lot of back and forth I was told by the tech support guy that the latest drivers have not been updated to support Sierra. In fact he had no idea if HP was working on updates at all. He recommended going back to El Capitan (not an option). Which brings me to HP Easy Scan. I had the previous version (1.5) on my Mac and of course it did not work with Sierra. I have updated to the latest version and the situation has not changed. Of course, when it was working the app worked fine and was useful for the majority of my scanning needs. I say shame on you HP. The drivers for your products should have been ready with the release of Sierra or within a week of its release at most. I am sure HP is not showing the same contempt for its’ Windows based customers. I recommend avoiding until HP decides to get their act together. ***UPDATE - December 3, 2016*** HP has just released a driver update. All is right with the world again. I have scanned to my computer thru HP Easy Scan as well as Pixelmator, Affinity Design and GIMP. Everything is working without a hitch. Scan to your hearts content. I will upgrade my rating to 3.5 stars. HP loses 1.5 stars for very bad customer service.

HP Easy Scan App stopped working after upgrading to MacOS Sierra - I have used the HP Easy Scan app since it first became available and had found it to be easy to use. I had scanned many old photos I had and the app was working beautifully, beyond my expectations. However, the problem began when I updated my mac to MacOs Sierra. Now the app does not recognize my printer/scanner (HP Photosmart C4240). It reports an error. I can however use it with the old HP Scan.

Replacement for “HP Scan” when upgraded to Sierra - Like some of the reviewer’s my HP Officejet Pro 8620 scan function stopped working after upgrading my macOS to Sierra. Funny thing is, I remember deleting another scan app from HP before “HP Scan” because it wouldn’t work after OS upgrade. I think HP’s philosophy is to just make new app instead of updating existing one. Either way I am glad that they at least have working app for OS Sierra. Quite identical app to “HP Scan” in my opinion.

Was sufficient, while it worked - An adequate, no frills scan interface. I felt my bundled Epson scanning software to be more powerful. I was using the Easy Scan without incident for the past several months. After upgrading to OS Sierra, it stopped working. My printer/scanner still works using the Mac scanning software, and even seems to function fine with the HP Utility software. I’ve followed all the recommended troubleshooting methods but alas, until an update is created, it will not work.

Image Capture.app is better, Yosemite - WTH? Did HP really write this? I’m really disappointed. This does not see my duplexing document feeder. The prefs are just how black/grey/whitethe background is. How to scan (ie resolution, text, photo, color, etc) have to be predefined in individual profiles that you can’t see the specs in unless you choose to edit it. It’s all there in plain sight in the OS included Image Capture .app HP Easy Scan is being trashed, then hidden in AppStore activity. Yosemite, HP Officejet Pro 8500

doesn’t work - Installed it, crashes immediately on loading. Sticking with HP Scan 3, which actually works.
