nice learning tool thats all - I was very disappointed in this app. The graphics from the beginning is great. The company does not say you have to download a program called UDK for the pc in order to work with the program. I would not waste my money on this program since it does nothing like I would expect it to do. It took almost two days to download the 5 gig file.
Learn to develop video games. - If you want to learn how to develop video games this is a good introduction course. However, it requires you to download a UDK program from a separate website and it is not compatible with a MAC, only with a PC. I was disappointed to learn that since I downloaded this course from the MAC app store.
Intro to Unreal Engine - The description of this app states "This is an Excellent Application on Learning Video Game Development, Learn from the Ground up to Expert". That's more than a bit of an exaggeration! This app will NOT make you an expert. But it will give you a brief introduction to many of the features of the Unreal Engine. It is not a total waste of money, but with so many free resources on the Unreal website it is not a great buy! As others have commented, the Unreal development environment only runs on a Windows PC. True but Unreal 3 can be used to make games for many platforms including the Mac and iPhone. You WILL need a powerful Windows machine to run the UDK but that should be expected for such a complex development tool. So don't go down this road in the first place if you're not committed to learning to build games. IF you buy this app, have a good Windows system, download and install the UDK and work along with the tutorials. The developer puts a lot of unnecessary/unrelated comment and attempts at humor into the videos. In one 5 min 11 second video the first 38 seconds are used to show pictures of the programmer's new apartment... which my $4.99 is begrudgingly helping to pay for!
