FormMate™ enables you to fill out pdf forms and generate new pdf files with your modifications electronically.
It is a very simple process to open up a pdf, add text data or images (such as your signature or a check mark, etc.). You can then print, fax or save the resulting pdf to disk.
HOW IT WORKS:
FormMate™ "references" the pdf. It does not modify the original pdf in any way. The resulting file is a pdf that references the original pdf with overlaid changes.
- Ability to include the pdf in the file (for portability to other computers) or reference the pdf to save space.
- Unlimited scaling capabilities, for precise alignment of your inputs.
- "QuickCells" is a great new way to quickly and easily add text and images that you need frequently in your documents, such as your name, address, signature, check boxes, etc.
- Tools are included for easy and precise layout and alignment of your data.
- Continuous scrolling allows you to quickly view an entire document.
- Thumbnails are available for quick navigation.
- You can easily differentiate the data that you have added to the original pdf.
Fixed issues related to macOS 10.12 (Sierra).

A real helpful application - I needed an application that would allow me to fill out a series of forms that I received as PDFs. FormMate worked flawlessly. It's easy to change fonts and sizes on just the text box you are using or for all of the text boxes. FormMate does what it says it will and for filling out forms, it's fantastic.
Doesn't really do more than you can do with Preview - I am not one to complain, but I feel I must speak up about this. There is not much this app does that cannot already be done with Preview for free. You can add text and more with the annotation tool in Preview. You can save the PDF in its native format and open it elsewhere where it is possible to edit the text annotations in the modified PDF. This is an improvement over what FormMate. Plus you can add a variety of lines, shapes, text boxes, speech bubbles, thought bubbles, and signatures. The only thing you cannot do is add graphics (or I haven't figured out how yet). The text annotations work as a poor substitute for actual form fields in the PDF, but they do work and can be edited in the saved PDF. This is why I purchased FormMate. The description gave the impression that form fields could be added to a PDF document and saved as PDF documents containing the new form fields. This is not possible. When the FormMate file is saved as a PDF, the text fields become static uneditable text. They only remain editable form fields when saved in the FrM8 file format. The form cannot be shared with others unless they also have the FormMate application. This is unacceptable for my purposes. My other complaint is for the Apple Mac App store. The way they facilitate the sale of these types of applications is actually detrimental to quality assurance. Sure, it mitigates the risk of malicious software. However, it fails to provide the try-before-you-buy nature of the shareware marketplace that it replaced. This situation leaves people like me feeling like we have been ripped off. I do think that saying I was ripped off is too strong. I only blame the author of this application for not more clearly explaining the pupose and limitations of the software. The software is useful to others as is clear from some of the other reviews. If I could have tried it before buying it via shareware, then I would have realized it was not right for my purposes and uninstalled it without buying it. Instead I feel resentful that I cannot get my money back even though I will uninstall the software after trying it out for only a couple hours. My only recourse is to give the application a bad rating and review.

Ugly and not very functional - I bought this because I thought it would come in handy… stupid me. The first time I tried to use it, it was atrocious. The UI is not intuitive and the program overall is just ugly and so are the results. I was able to accomplish my task much quicker with Affinity Designer and it took 3 seconds (literally) when I had spend a minute or two messing around in this program (and no I’m not an avid user of that other program, maybe the 3rd time I had ever opened it). Don’t waste your money on this. Go with something else. I’m pretty sure the Writer program of Libre Office is better than this.
