Folder Monitor

Description:

Folder Monitor allows you to select a folder to watch for changes and associate a shell script to run when a change is detected.

If you've got something that needs to be updated for instance when a file is added or removed from a folder, simply select the folder you want to monitor and select the script that you want executed when a change is detected.

I wrote this app originally to use for XBMC to automatically update and clean my library but soon realized that this app has a lot more potential then just updating the library for XBMC.

Folder Monitor runs in the background and is accessible via the folder icon in the Status Bar. You can also set Folder Monitor to launch on Startup.

App doesn't work - I double click the app icon, and nothing. No messages, no windows, no nothing. So I went to the support site. I registered for their forum because their email address or contact form is no-where to be found. Error message on registering for the forum. Sad, I really needed this app to work.

App works but UI needs work - This app works as described but the UI is really bad. There is no feedback when the script executes or capture of the output or errors. It would also be nice to minotor more than one folder with a different scripts.

Works well, wish it ran AppleScripts natively - It’s definitely a little rough, but it does what it says it will do. If you want it to run an AppleScript, just make an empty text file with: osascript /path/to/your/applescript.scpt and save that as a shell script (.sh). It would be awesome if Folder Monitor just natively ran applescripts, so this workaround wasn’t necessary.
