Folda is a template-based folder structure generator. It's the first one of its kind! It lets you create complex and very customized folder structures..

Ideal for photographers, advertising agencies, web designers and programmers or anyone that needs to create various folder structures regularly. With Folda, you no longer need to keep a set of empty folders somewhere on your hard drive, or creating them by hand from scratch every time or use an automation process that requires a third-party to keep it up-to-date and customized. And no more inconsistencies between similar folder structures, either in spelling or quantity.
Plus, you can create dynamic keywords in any folder, and these keywords can be replaced before you create the folders with your own pertinent information, such as docket number, client name or the person in charge, dates, priority level, etc. This lets you create a much cleaner, better looking folder structure and customized to your needs.
To create new keyword, simply type ## before and && after any text of your choice or use the keyboard shortcut command-K. For example, ##docket number&&, ##date&&, ##person in charge&&, etc. You can use any keyword as many times as you need, and you can create as many keywords as you want. Managing and creating keywords is done via the Templates Manager.
Give it a try and let us know what you think! We're always welcome to constructive comments that helps us build better apps for you!

REQUIRES: Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 minimum. Please verify that you can meet these minimum requirements before installing Folda, we cannot guarantee the best experience without this.

- Create custom folder structures in seconds!
- Create as many templates as you need.
- Export and import templates on other computers running Folda 1.1 and up.
- Dynamic keywords (no limit on quantity or use).
- Keywords can be used in any level or base folder name.
- Up to 3 levels of folders, and an optional base folder to contain them all if you need one. Why 3? Because you should always be able to find what you are looking for in 3 clicks or less.
- See a live preview of the whole structure before it is created!
- You can define up to 4 destination favorites which can be quickly accessed with keyboard shortcuts (⌘1 to ⌘4). (Requires Mac OS X Lion 10.7.3 or newer).
- Designed for quick and easy use and to not keep you away from other important tasks any longer than necessary.
- Double-click on any template to quickly open it in the Templates Manager.
- One-window application. Instructions built in the interface.
- Sandbox compliant.

Release Notes:

- The Export folder templates menu item was greyed out for no reason in the english localization. It has now been fixed. Sorry for the trouble!

- You can now import and export configurations! Inside the File menu there is two new commands. It will export a file (extension .foldaconfigs) which you can store anywhere you like or send to any other computer using at least Folda v1.1 which can then be imported. Please note that importing configurations will replace everything already in place, it will not merge existing configurations with new ones.
- No longer warns when the folders creation process is done, unless an error occurs. Will beep instead.
- New app icon.

- A few minor bugs.

Good start - looking for a few new features... - First of all, this app works as described. You create templates of the desired folder structures, then use these templates to populate other folders. There are two features, however, that would make this even better. First, would be a keyboard shortcut to paste the templates. Currently, you have to browse to the desired location from within the program, choose the desired template, then press go. It would be great if there could be a few “favorite” templates with shortcuts that work in Finder (sort of like TextExpander but with folders). This is not the same as the current feature of destination favorites, because the folders we will be using have not been created yet. We want to quickly create the same folder structure again and again, but in a different folder every time. Second, would be the ability to export templates. We have multiple users in our firm, each of whom has purchased his own copy. Currently, each of us has to make the same templates, over and over again. It would be very helpful for one of us to be able to export their templates to allow coworkers to import them. EDIT: Review is now 5-stars. The app developer has told me that the ability to import/export will be coming in a new update, and in the meantime has given me the instructions to transfer the templates to another computer with the current version: Open Finder, press Command-Shift-G, and enter this path: ~/Library/Containers/com.capsasoft.folda/Data/Library/Preferences/ Then, copy the file com.capsasoft.folda.plist. Paste this file in the same location on other computers that you want to share templates with.

How about a “folder structure clone” function? - Rather than the “Import template”, “folder structure clone” maybe is a easier start to reuse an existing folder structure on my drive.

Love this app - What can I say, it works as advertised. Developer is responsive and helpful when I’ve emailed. I use it to create folder structures for my FCPX film projects. I hope that this will continue to be developed.
