Solid Program - Awesome flashcard program. It takes a little bit of time to get used to, so you just have to hang in there. iFlash was much more intuitive to learn, but the inability of that program to handle images efficiently was a serious problem. Mental Case incorporates images flawlessly and can wirelessly sync across all ios devices with ease.

Buggy, lame excuses. - Mental Case has taken out their local wifi sync option. Explanation (from their website): “it was too complex to do both wifi and iCloud” and (love this one) “that’s why it’s a new app and not an upgrade; we wanted people to have the option to backup to wifi by keeping the old app” (i.e., we couldn’t figure it out). Mental Case has taken out their local backup option. Explanation (from their website): “you should use Time Machine” (i.e., one less thing for us to worry about). Mental Case has taken out their selective sync option, so every flashcard you ever made will now be on your iPhone, all the time, not to mention eating up your iCloud storage. Explanation…[crickets]. The truth is the Mental Faculty have gotten lazy and incompetent. In many ways, Mental Case 2 does less than Mental Case 1; only problem, you can’t get the original version on the App Store any more.

went downhill - I used this app every day (also on phone and iPad) and really liked it. It began to have iCloud syncing problems until one day it just erased all of my notes! Over a year’s worth. Now they are moving to a new app. No thanks…what a waste of money. Will be looking elsewhere for a new app.

Mental Case 2 is better than Studies - This company recently released Studies as a replacement for Mental Case 2. I own both programs, and I can tell you that you should use Mental Case 2 instead of Studies. Studies is buggy mess that has a lot of syncing problems. For some reason, the geniuses at this company took away the ability to sync with DropBox in Studies. This means it syncs only with iCloud. And this means it is undependable. Mental Case 2 syncs with iCloud AND DropBox, and its DropBox syncing works well. Studies destroyed my flashcards database of around 900 flashcards TWICE! Never again will I give that buggy piece of garbage called Studies a chance. Want to avoid major headaches? Stick with Mental Case 2, and avoid Studies.
