Description:

Fake is a new browser for Mac OS X that makes web automation simple. Fake allows you to drag discrete browser Actions into a graphical Workflow that can be run again and again without human interaction. The Fake Workflows you create can be saved, reopened, and shared.

Inspired by Apple's Automator application, Fake looks like a combination of Safari and Automator that allows you to run (and re-run) "fake" interactions with the web.

Power Users will love Fake for automating tedious web tasks like filling out lengthy forms and capturing screenshots. Developers can use Fake for graphically configuring automated tests for their webapps, including assertions, assertion failure handlers, and error handlers.

All of Fake's automation features are powered by Mac OS X's native scripting tool – AppleScript. Which means Fake can be used to incorporate web automation into many other OS X scripting tasks.

outstanding - I develop software for a living. Testing can be a tedious pain. This application will pay for itself over and over again. I highly recommend this to anybody building web apps for a living.

Version 1.9.5

Very handy but developer doesn’t seem to fix bugs - I’m lowering this to 1 star because Fake has stopped working properly on my Mac (since the latest update to Safari) and the developer has not responded to any support issues since almost a year ago. This program may have become “abandon ware”. ---------------------- I use Fake every day now to access account balance pages from various banks, copy them to clipboard and then invoke python scripts to massage them and inject them into MySQL database which is later queried from Excel to keep daily track of investments. It has lots of useful features for manipulating websites and so highly recommended. My only problem has been that Fake doesn’t remember its own window position and always opens up half-way off my display. I reported the problem many (probably 6) months ago and it’s still not fixed. So the 4 rather than 5-star rating is due to their support.
