FGDesktopLoupe is a desktop dimmer that will allow you to use a spotlight beam that follows your mouse pointer to focus on a part of the screen.
FGDesktopLoupe will allow you to easily set the size of the spotlight and the color of the dimmer background.
You can use CTRL ALT to open the settings window and CMD ALT to toggle the dimmer effect on or off.

Pretty for a Free app, but a few *tiny* changes would make it 5 stars - This is free and it works and it's pretty well, and I give the author a lot of credit. There are a number of tiny things that would combine to make it really awesome. 1: Save my settings, for the next time I run it. 2: Put the Settings / Preferences on the menu, in the same place as other apps, in addition to having it come up with CTRL-ALT. 3: Let me also set the color and alpha channel of the foreground / Spotlight itself. In my case wouldn't have the background be in shadow, but instead have the cursor have a yellow circle around it, mostly transparent of course. 4: Drop the "FG" in the name. 5: It'd be nice to have the option of it's icon living in the top menu bar, rather than a full icon in the dock. Some people might prefer the icon at the bottom, so it would probably have to be an option. 6: Include a checkmark to automatically startup when the machine starts, although of course you can do this yourself by right clicking on the icon and right-clicking to options. This would even more valuable if the author had implemented menu bar icon, since there wouldn't be any icon in the dock to right click. For me, I'd like to use it all the time for cursor visibility. Yes, I know about the Accessibility cursor settings, but believe it or not I stil lose the I-beam cursor on dark backgrounds for example.
great one trick pony! - I really like the app does a great job for what it does. If this is what your looking for. Look no further! One thing that I would like to see different is that I would like it to run as a daemon and not have the icon in my doc.
Great Utility App! - This is a very useful app! Some small enhancements/updates and it could become super popular! 1: Most important, saving abilities that can show up on startup. (and maybe profiles for different settings, i.e. Photoshop, games, etc) 2: Control for color/alpha channel of foreground. 3: Option for an adjustable colored circle around cursor in lieu of (and/or addition to) fading the background. (this would be extreme, I would use this all the time) 4: Easy auto-startup upon login and also run as daemon optionally. Great cursor tool!
Very nice for single display systems - This is a nice focused app that's dead simple to use and is great for finding your mouse on large displays. The only nit is that it works only on your primary display. Any other displays are not dimmed and the spotlight disappears when the mouse pointer is moved to these other displays. Still, it's quite useful. Kudos and thanks to the author!
Works well, but….. - This app does what it says and it works well, however, when the app is running it interfers with & does not allow dictionary "Look up" on the track pad. Triple finger, double tap. Becuse of this I can only give it 3 stars. Spend a few dollars and buy "mouseposé" here on the appstore, mouseposé has this exact feature and so many more to offer.
