Simple, yet powerful - When merging files from a Mac Pro with three 3 TB drives I was distracted for only a moment and reformatted the wrong drive. This was the Media drive I used for most of my stills and clip art accumulated over the past four years. After using Data Rescue 4 to recover all the images I realized that due to files being moved from drive to drive and folder to folder I had a TON of reconstructed duplicates on my recovery drive. I looked at several other programs and tried Snapselect but it was too cumbersome. I then tried DPFP, dragged every recovered folder into the workspace and let it run. In total I recovered over 179,000 duplicates. If I had to make the decision myself the display showed me the varying file sizes which would help me choose which files to keep, and which to trash. But wait . . . there’s more! The Auto Mark feature allowed me to specify which photo in each group had the highest priority and allowed me to mark and batch delete all but one of the files in each groupong of duplicates, thus saving me not hours, but DAYS of work scrutinizing every group. Over 147,000 files were mass deleted in a matter of less than 30 minutes. Granted, you may not have the volumes of files I did, and you may not be as easily distracted as I and format the wrong drive but this program did exceedingly, abundantly more than I ever expected for $1.

Does not work with new “Photos Library: - Bought this at half off couple days ago to kill duplicates in my iPhoto Library, however it’s not titled “iPhotos Library” anymore; it’s “Photo Library” with the demise of iPhoto. Does not work with this app. This 1.3.1 update does nothing as app still does not accept the new “Photos Library."

It’s great, but... - The program is great in that it lets you, the user, control how similar the images must be before they are considered a match. That is a great feature. Others here have stated that the “delete procedure” on the instructions aren’t clear enough. They have a link on the last step-by-step window that purports to take you to detailed instructions fore deleting from the duplicates album. However, my server won’t let me go there because the link was identified as being “Malware”. It is a pain that you get through the entire pass through the files, choose the actual duplicates and then press the delete key and all that happens is the files are deleted from the album, not the library. With my library of more than 115,000 unique images, the process takes awhile initially. How hard is it to get the developer to show on the last screen that you need to right click and choose delete once you’ve selected all the images in the duplicates folder? (A tip for those who may not know, press command-A to select all the images when the “Duplicate Marked Photos” album is the active window.) Other than this one thing, there aren’t any negative issues. It does exactly what it says it will. Once this little wrinkle is worked out, the program really is an elegant solution for dealing with duplicate images. It’s great overall.

Duplicate photos fixer pro - Instructions are virutally non existent - called help line - guy asked to remote into computer to “show” me how to do the removal - which he did but THEN - was very INSISTENT that my computer was Running Slow - had been infected by a Virus and that the Duplicate photos were because I had a virus on the computer and that he had a “TECHNICIAN” there ( heavy foreign accent)) who could fix and optimize my computer and keep my computer serviced - He kept insisting that I do this and I declined - Just spent time deleting this app from my MAC! This is a bait and switch to gain access to your computer and do who only knows what with it!!! Don’t get duped like me! Called apple and deleted the apps — Also - SYSTWEAK run many apps on this site - I would not trust one of them! Buyer beware.

Beware, this is malware on the AppStore - I found the comments from CODSWALLUP2073 (below) very interesting. Why would a company doing photo editing software be interested in viruses, and want to take remote control of your PC? It shouldn’t. So as a Cybersecurity professional, I did a liitle more digging and found the Windows version of this program is flagged by several anti-virus vendors (on Windows) as viruses. The point is that this software appears to have malicious payload embedded within the functionality the user thinks he (she) is getting. Perhaps that might explain why after I installed this software, my CPU kept spiking for no obvious reason. Malware issues aside, I did run the program early on, and found it too liberal in suggesting files get deleted. So I’ve uninstalled it. I expect more from Apple in screening software that appears on its AppStore.

Works as advertised - Did exactly what I expected. I think some people have had trouble actually deleting the photos from the Duplicate Marked Photos folder. I found you need to select them all (click and drag over them) and then right-click on one and choose to Delete. Simply selecting them and clicking the delete key only removed them from the folder, not photos. The instructions could be clearer here.

great little app - saves a lot of time - have photos from several devices that aren’t synched and had lots of dupes from prior uploads. Tedious removing them by hand one at a time This automates it and is really fast and gives you lots of control over what you consider duplicates. Can then do bulk removal or do it individually. Just need to right click delete the photos from the Photos library - if you just push delete on the keyboard, they aren’t removed from the library for some reason (still there when you reopen it). With current promotion its a now brainer to get the Pro version
