Description:

Free up hard drive space with DriveSlim!

DriveSlim helps you recover hard drive space by identifying and allowing you to click-to-delete large, duplicate or unused files.

Through DriveSlim's various slimming plans, DriveSlim will detect and recommend files that can be deleted from or backed up off of your system to help free space on your hard drive. DriveSlim can help you determine what files can be deleted when your hard drive gets near its full capacity.

DriveSlim works only on user files.

It worked very well for me! - I ran it on my main drive (MacBook Pro 15). Once it scans it will present you with a list and then you can decide what you want to erase or not. I chose to erase only documents of mine (ups, movies, large files, etc). I freed up several GBs worth of data. Great product and easy to use.

Very disappointing and not worth $10 bucks. - Major limitations include poor file selection (no shift-select, for example), can't choose which version to delete/keep. Instead it chooses most recent version and places an alias for the deleted version. Interface needs major rtevision and the lack of options and selection criteria (size only) makes thjis utility a waste of money. Very disappointing.

So Necessary - I am a data hoarder, and not as good as I should be about getting rid of old files. I'm also not as schooled as I should be about cleaning up things like caches. This product is very helpful every time I get low on space. It makes it pretty easy to be more disciplined.

So Far, So Good - I've only cleaned one video folder on my Drobo drive, but it seems to work well so far. I would say that it would be nice to be able to select multiple folders to slim down my dups, because that is where I struggle the most with duplicate files, but I assume the way to go is to select the whole Drobo drive. Let's you compare both files in each location by clicking on the search spyglass icon. Good!

Not up to speed... - Just tried it on an external volume and it's not minding any large files (10 MB) which is ridiculous… I have real work to do so I'm moving on...

Drive Slim won’t open at all - I loved this app, but I don’t know if the latest Yosemite update is not yet supported or what, but now it won’t even open. I went to their support site and it wants me to choose which product, but it doesn’t list Drive Slim. Perhaps they’re trying to get me to buy Drive Genius…I don’t know. If I can’t contact support I don’t know what else I’m supposed to do.
