Beautifully simple - Let me begin with the disclaimer that I'm a Wacom tablet kind-of-mac-user and having a tablet might be part of what makes this application even more fascinating for me. And also I confess to having several post-it notes around the bezel of my screen. That being said, this application has a clean interface that is simply elegant. It boils down to two markers (black and blue), an eraser, and a virtual post-it note cube. When the application is open, you can write on the "desktop" whiteboard and then elegantly "finish" by selecting a "desktop" button and the screen that you've been drawing on "drops" down into the background while the applicaiton is open. It is easy enough to go back and "markup" and re-edit the file or even save and create a new one. I questioned the need to use a uniqe file format (.dood), but I'm guessing it allows the user to go back and reposition and edit the post-it notes more than anything…which is fine with me since it isn't a static jpg. Having the ability to save and open different DoodleDesktops may very well work well to create a note page/checklist/to-do's for each project I'm working on and have the relevant one in the background at the time. I have in the past gone into a Photoshop-type applications and customized a background screen, made just to fit my resolution, saved it, loaded it in System Preferences and essentially have done this same thing, but the simplicity of DoodleDesk is impressive. I almost don't want to quit the application and see my old desktop image…it could be a keeper…and I might even let the app just start as a login item… Three items nag at me…what happens if I move the .dood file over to a laptop…how will it scale/adapt to the change of screen sizes…and hopefully a future update will allow pasting or importing of images as well as variable sizing of the pen to make it either fine point or sharpie-size.

Disapointed - When I read the description I thought that I would be able to draw and make notes on my desktop, given that the description says "DoodleDesk puts a blank canvas where your background would be, and lets you draw freely." I can't. I can draw and make notes in this app, and then instantly make that my desktop, but I can't draw on it while it's my desktop. I thought I'd be able to use the show desktop funciton and be able to write notes, but as this is, it's much less convenient.

Would love a few more features - Overall, really cool app! Worth the few bucks. Nice work! Some features that I'd like to see: 1. Ability to not have it open in my dock (couldn't it just be a menubar item instead?) 2. Transparent background: Couldn't you add a feature to set opacity of the white background? It'd be cool make apps' background transparent so I could "draw on my desktop" background image. Overall, I'm happy! :)

Nice app, but needs a little more - Bought this app because the screenshot looks good. This app has the potential to be great! Here’s a couple things that would be nice and may convince others to choose this app over alternatives: - Needs “pages”; right now your file will only be one paged. There is no option to add pages and to go back and forth as you wish. You'll have to create a new file if you use up all your space. - Needs a shortcut for deleting the whole whiteboard, there’s a short cut for cut, copy, paste (albeit I think they only apply to the sticky note). Needs shortcut for delete (and, hopefully, “add page”) The neat thing about this app is it’s incredibly simple as any app on mac should be, but the missing above features are too distracting and a really big disadvantage to this app. I hope changes are made as I would love to recommend this to my fellow classmates!

I love it. Needs new 2 features. - 1. If I choose the marker at a small size and then i choose the eraser and a larger size and then go back to the marker, I expected the two to have a different size. Instead I had to make the eraser a larger size and then when I went back to the marker I had to re-adjust the size. Doing this many times is a bit annoying. 2. Ability to add images. I am working on a project and we are trying to figure out how the website should be layed out. Would love to see our current home as an image and be able to circle around it and take notes etc. Besides that it has been great. Thank you.

Completely worth it! - Awesome peiece of software! Use it along with my bamboo tablet and it works flawlessly! I honestly wish it cost a few more dollars just so I could pay the developer a bit more for it. Super useful, dead simple software!

Need some features - Love it but,, 1. Need to hide the dock option 2. Need more marker colors - or option to add more colors - i need green as well. 3. Need to have a jpeg or a visio open up and white board on top of that to allow to show how a process will flow around - example want to open a flow chart in jpeg in doodle and show how control passes around using the marker. 4. Eraser size needs to be redone so i am not having to change between marker sized eraser. Thank you
