The Divine Office App is an opportunity for you to participate in the recitation of the Liturgy of the Hours, an ancient and meditative collection of psalms, hymns and scripture that represent the public prayer of the Christian community.

The Divine Office App is also The Best Catholic iPhone and iPad App [About.com Reader's Choice Awards 2011]. Check it out on your mobile devices!

If you are unable to pray in community, but love the contentment of praying with others, the Divine Office App will allow you to join a huge virtual community praying together through our website, iPhone apps, iPad app, Mac app and soon also through a new Android app.

Hours included for each day are:
* Invitatory
* Office of Readings
* Morning Prayer
* Daytime Prayer - text only, no audio
* Evening Prayer
* Night Prayer

This app will automatically update its content while you are running it with an Internet connection.

This App is an audio and text version of the official set of daily prayers from the Liturgy of the Hours of the Roman Catholic Church (Breviary). It wirelessly downloads several days of prayers at a time.

For clergy required to pray the Liturgy of the Hours daily, or laity who recite the daily prayers to maintain their intimate connection with God, The Divine Office App is designed to make praying more convenient, enjoyable, and simple enough for anyone to use. It automatically downloads the appropriate prayers for each office, every day of the year, including Solemnities, Feasts, and Memorials.

The Divine Office App uses the current four-volume Liturgy of the Hours with a bias towards the USA calendar. This version is the official prayer book of the Catholic Church, however, it is suitable for those following Eastern Orthodox and Anglican traditions.

When St. Paul advises us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to “pray without ceasing,” he intends more than simply bowing our heads and speaking to God on a regular basis. He means for us to adopt an ongoing attitude of prayer that is a way of life and a constant intercession for the salvation of all mankind.

Don't waste your money - Used to work just fine until it was updated. All I got then was audio, no text. Contacted the support office, wasn't even acknowledged.

terry - This is an important app to me. It says it is so you can pray without ceasing. It helps a Christan to rember to pray more, like how Muslims have a call to prayer, this is like a call to prayer. I did not use much after download for a few months but now it's getting to be a habit. Invaluable, I want Universalis next.

Voice - I am thankfull for this app. But when I listen to the prayers, there is one voice that is so dramatic I find her distracting. I am to the point that I can no longer listen due to her affectivity. She is the only downside to this app.

Liturgy of the Hours - It's the best Liturgy of the Hours I've seen on the computer or in an App. The down side is that it is based on the 1972 version of the LOH, which throws off the pagination references and which hymns that are selected. I am greatful for what music is provided and it is nice to have a communal feeling. I would like to see them update it to the 1976 version and list the pages where the hymns are from if not the one associated with the prayer hour.

It's Great! - NIce change of pace when used with the traditional four volume. I particularly enjoy the music when it's more modern and less formal. Amazing Grace with the guitar and male and female voices was beautiful. Wish I could see the map with the amount of people praying at the same time on my Mac as is possible on the iPad. NIce job, Thanks!

Permanent Deacon’s perspective - This app is excellent! I use it two ways, the first is to set my ribbons for my Books of the Liturgy of the Hours and second is when I’m traveling. On occassion when I’m running late and miss my morning prayer time I can listen to it on the way to the parish. Its the best app I’ve seen for the LotH. It also makes it nice to listen to the other Hours in addition to Morning and Evening to continually pray for the Universal Church.
