The best at this. - I have tried and paid for a couple of such apps. Unfortunately they all used menu bar icons. This app's icon sits in the Dock. I have mostly simply used the command-option-click Desktop feature to hide app's Windows. The trouble with that option is if there is a Finder window open you still have that. This little beauty hides Finder Windows, too, as its function is to be an app with no windows which automatically hides all other apps. As such it uses 20+ MB Real Memory but today that's not much. Open Activity Monitor and see the many processes eating up 20+ MB RAM. Note: It does not hide any Desktop icons.

Not worth it - This app is pretty useless… when you select it, you also lose the icons on the dock leaving you to guess what you had open. I see that the screen shot example of a “clean” desktop shows icons still open on the dock (on the right hand side) but I’m not having that happen. I do not see any settings to allow this either. Add the ability to keep a clean screen with icons in the dock and I would change to a 5 star rating.

Great App - I'm a developer and often use my desktop as a place to quickly save files to. Then I simply Command-Tab to the Display Desktop app and I'm at my desktop. Such a simple app but saves me a lot of time daily. Thank you very much.

Annoyed that I had to buy it... - …but it works. It’s not the developers fault that the OS didn’t include this simple utility so props for making what should be a built in option. And again, it works. However I’ve paid less for apps that do more—thus the 4 stars vs. 5. It’s honestly overpriced relative to its function. It should be a $.99’r.
