Description:

Desktop Curtain is a simple tool to hide the clutter on your desktop, and help you focus on the task at hand. It's perfect for teachers, presenters, writers, developers, and anyone else that hates clutter and/or needs to take screenshots with clean background images.

Why waste time moving files and folders on and off of your desktop when Desktop Curtain can make things look spotless in a jiffy?

Desktop Curtain lets you set images via drag-and-drop or the standard file dialog, and it will remember your 10 most-recently-used images.

You can also control at what "level" the image floats (and hence, how much stuff it covers), and whether it affects all monitors or just one.

You can use Desktop Curtain to focus only on the frontmost application, too — or even the frontmost window, to really narrow your focus.

Desktop Curtain also runs in three modes, including a fully-invisible mode perfect for those who take screenshots.oh

Good concept - This inexpensive app is perfect for me. Even though I normally keep my desktop free of clutter it's often distracting to see the busy wallpaper and icons when I'm trying to focus on a project. The standard "curtain" backdrop is elegant and works well. For under $2 it's a steal. I have a few small suggestions though. First, please give us to option for a black-and-white menu bar icon, to match the others already there. Give us the option to change the color of the curtain. Green is nice but variety is better. Animate the curtain opening and closing rather than having a static picture suddenly appear. And if possible, keep the curtain in place when using Expose (except the reveal desktop function of course)

Rather lackluster - I was expecting something a bit more 'magical'…all that happens is a jpeg is placed over my desktop. I could have created a seperate desktop in spaces to put my junk and then never visit it and have a clean desktop. For $2 there should at least be an animation of curtains moving on and off the screen. Not impressed.

Great for Webex and GoToMeeting - I do not keep a tidy desktop. It’s shameful but, there you have it. I’m a mess. I also do a lot of web meetings where I am demonstrating or otherwise showing my system. People are nice to me but, I feel self-conscious. Enter Desktop Curtain. It’s true that I sometimes use it just for less visual clutter and that’s nice, but the big deal is that I turn it on before I share my screen. It makes it so that the demo is less distracted and looks a lot nicer. I’ve been using it for a few years and never had one single bit of trouble with it. Go ahead and buy it.

Enormously Useful! - I make public presentations all the time. Desktop Curtain is the most important tool that I have for running my presentations cleanly. All of the junk on my computer stays nicely hidden from the audience. Desktop Curtain also keeps my working environment under control, removing clutter from my workspace. I could not be more thrilled to have this little application!

Very useful for presentations - please keep updating - I use this app to cover my desktop for presentations and it does a great job. Simple yet feature rich. I also use it to hide my desktop clutter so I can concentrate when I work. My only concern is that the app hasn’t been updated for some time. As long as they remain invested in maintaining and improving the app, I think it’s well worth the price.
