Have you ever wanted to be president? Or prime-minister? Convinced you could do a better job of running the country? Let's face it, you could hardly do a worse job than our current political leaders. Crime, unemployment, national debt, terrorism, climate change... Have you got the answers to the problems that face western industrialized nations?

Democracy 2 is the ultimate political strategy / simulation game. The game simulates the motivations, loyalties and desires of everyone in the country. As president or prime minister, it's your job to balance the need for income from taxes against the demands of the voters. Do you want your country to be an eco-friendly green paradise? Or a capitalist utopia? Will you pander to the patriots, the liberals or the religious pressure groups? Can you keep crime under control without destroying the civil liberties of your citizens? And can you keep good diplomatic relations with other nation states?

This popular strategy game is easy to pick up. An innovative user interface shows the relationships between everything in the game just by hovering your mouse over an object. The game is 'turn based', so it's the ideal game for those who prefer an intelligent, thoughtful game.

The keys to the game are the policy 'sliders' that let you adjust how your government runs. You can raise or lower taxes with a slider, or even adjust education policy, or workers' rights in exactly the same way. This system makes for a game that is easy to learn and difficult to master.

Democracy 2 covers the whole range of political opinion and policy, from debates over stem cell research and school prayer, through the provision of state health care and benefit payments to the unemployed, right across to tax shelters for the wealthy, the death penalty, military spending and civil rights. regardless of where you stand on political topics, you will have the option to put your ideology to the test.

Love the concept however many bugs exist! - The game is fun easy to play and worth the money. There is a free demo avalible if you google for it. As for the bugs they do not stop you from playing the game but can freeze your mac temporarly. The best way to fix this is simply eneter mission control it will unfreeze. Needs some updating but still worth buying!

Great Game for Democracy 1 players - Democracy 2 will seem very familiar to Democracy players. The gameplay is essentially the same but with additional policies and more game depth. The addition of ministers is a nice touch. The games seem to go a little shorter then in the first game. Also, the countries you can choose from are a little strange. What happened to playing as a real country besides the USA?

Good, but could be better - This is a complex game with a lot of moving parts (cliche' intended). Every action has multiple consequences. Your job is to understand how everything relates to one another, then make choices and trade offs. If you like intellectual strategy games, you might enjoy this. It's not a game for everyone, though. On the other hand, the graphics are very poor compared to today's standards. Basically, it looks like the authors imported a very old PC based game without taking any time to update it and take advange of the Mac's capabilities. Some of the mechanics are clunky too, even simple things like mouse/cursor movements. Lastly, the game is a little buggy and crashes now and again. A little more effort would yield a much better game.

Do not buy - If you're thinking of buying this game you probably already know you like it. That is irrelevant at this point. If you like playing it, don't buy it, because that isn't an option. Best you can hope for is it crashing on you.

Great, but not for everyone. - I love this game, but as it is a turn-based political sim, I'm not sure that it is for everyone.
